So I was discussing this with several players last night, but could not get a solid answer in how the damage from rapid fire works. I tried looking it up online, but could not find a link explaining it. For instance, I use rapid fire and the first two hits are 200 then 400, is the damage:

200+400=600 damage total or
200+200->400 damage total.

Anyone have a link or knowledge in this?

Its a running total, the last number you see is the TOTAL damage not additive.

So, your second example.

200+200=400.

If you check the text combat log it shows the damage from individual hits as being roughly even. The HUD damage pop-up is cumulative.

As Sarlack says, the damage number you see last is Rapid Fire’s total damage. Other skills like the Guardians torch skill Cleansing Flame, works the same way.

80 Ranger | 80 Mesmer | 80 Thief | 80 Guardian | 40 Engineer
