It’s nice to see numbers and all but for wvw i’d give it a bad score because it’s simply a zerg class that has no survivability and escape tools.
Maybe I just hate glass cannons
Tbh I know what you mean, I do seem to struggle when coming up against multiple enemies in wvwvw as the only escape I have is dashing back, I hardly lose 1v1s tho, what would you suggest to improve?
After watching your video all I can think is that you want to play a Warrior or a Thief disguised as a Ranger.
Pro’s:
- You’re packing a stun breaker.
Cons (What you can improve imo):
- No micro-managing your pets, that second half of the video where you are fighting inside SM, your pet was disabled for the entire fight. I didn’t notice if you ever used your pet F2 during the video, get used to pet swapping right before they die so you can maximize their potential.
- Sharpening stone as a utility for a power/crit build?
- No weapon switching? I don’t know if you just did not use it because you didn’t need it, but since you are so glassy, a sword main hand would give you a ton evading in close skirmishes, I noticed that as soon they get a jump on you things get ugly real fast.
- For your build in particular, get 5 points in Beastmastery for quickness when pet switch, it’s almost mandatory.
I hope it helped, you maybe know all that stuff, but if you didn’t it’s always good info, I don’t run a glass cannon Ranger myself, but while I think they can be effective, they fall short compared to Warriors or Thieves glass cannons, just my opinion.
- Proudly not going to go DH -
I’m looking at you, Rev..
Thanks for that, I will try some of it out, but I have done some research and turns out a sniper built warrior is exactly what I want to play so I am going to try and build one
It seems closer to a PvE build to me. I would second the 5 points into BM for quickness. I’d also recommend exploring spvp. In wvw and PvE rangers are underpowered IMO, because of some problems with pets. But in spvp, pets become very useful and I’d say rangers almost define balance (some other classes are better, but that’s a case of them needing to be nerfed rather than ranger being buffed). That being said, I understand wanting to play the class you like, and I have only played ranger since launch, as I did in GW1. So keep rocking, just explore the opportunities pets provide, even if they still have some problems. The quickness on pet swap can be used very effectively for finishers, reviving people, or when you need a small bit more burst. Also good for casting barrage. For 1v1 and mobility, I would also recommend trying out the greatsword. It’s not very effective in pve, but it’s very fun and very effective in pvp for escaping or small scale fights.
I used to run longbow greatsword was only recently I swapped it out for the shortbow, I will try some of these changes whilst leveling my warrior and see which I want to play most
Your QZ+rapid shot combo is powerful type of your status.(and you make it good)
your shot is very powful my ranger can’t do like this.
Shapenting stone for make enemy stay in combat longer?
If you codi.dmg200(total very low for good to make codition u solid shot is better DMG than ShP.)
why not use signet of the hunt+25%runnig for moveing around or follor target b better effective or Muddy terrand to control enemy moving?
(But I prefer SotH for you)or signel of…(remove codi every10sec is good)
Healing why use healing spring?you not use it for team a lot or ues offen
then why not use Heal as one or toll argen? It better effect cooldown for your HP drop below10K in combat.(healing spring is good when in DEF type of www but in clip you running-hunting type.)
Thanks for that I will try the other healing methods and the 25% speed
10. Now repair your gear. :P
Im sorry, I despise GlassCannon Builds – Just. Cant. Do it.
Your running a high risk, high reward build.
IMO.
Your healing spring wont help you, since your GC.
You cant take hits so standing in it wont help, Mobility is a must for you.
Bring Another type of heal. or not.
However, You’ll be an oh kitten factor when hitting unsuspecting people in WvW (There reactions are funny)
Rao- Does not stop entangle just so you know – Physical hits do.
I dont use SS for anything really, It just does not fit my bar.
LR. Perfect.
QZ. Perfect. For your build bursting down someone without it is blasphemy.
Avoid close combat classes (keep them at a distance at all times)
Other than that Enjoy.

Sorry I didn’t see your post, been busy the last few days, I am trying a few different things now, using trial and error and finding out what works well, I am making new videos as I try out each type of build, will try changing what you said for my next video so thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it
Similar to my build, I could increase my Crit damage a bit more if I wanted to transmute my bow.
Edit: The tooltip didn’t show my 90% crit damage.

Yeah it is, the weapon on your back looks pretty bad kitten :P
It looks pretty good but I’d ditch the WS unless you wanted to combine rampgers and berserker. Unless there’s something fancy in the WS tree I’m not aware of, I’m assuming you got it to comensate for lack of condition damage anywhere else in your build. I’d give it up and try to throw it all into DPS.
I’d also ditch the bleed utility. I had it for a bit too because of the wildernes survival trait but I ended up not using it. I think I’ve got QZ, lightening reflexes and I’m trying out the Hunt to see if 25% feels worth it. If we’re talking WvW numbers, I’m probably a little squishier than you and my LR shot hits for 2900-4000 (once for 5106 but that was probably buffs and dude didn’t have gear anywhere near his level) with 59% crit (62% on SB since I have a 5% crit sigil…game needs to learn addition) and my SB hits for 900-1500 with the auto-attack there.
Survivability in 1v10 (my biggest problem is getting into shooting someone and not realizing that the rest of my team bailed…) is about GTFO so include that of course. I love the double bows (the only way to go if you have the skirmishing trait for cd’s and the mm trait for piercing) and despite not having any condition damage besides what’s on my SB, that bow is great for interrupts, cripple, healing debuff…and the autoattack is fine for steady damage (about the same as my engy’s rifle auto but faster).
So yeah, cool build, I’d go full 30/30 in MM and Skirmishing if you want to be full damage (the GM traits are kitten for that, but there’s enough relevant master or adept traits you can put in that slot). And yeah, what dude said about using your pet.
Perfect the art of using your pet, it is going to be a huge boost to your survival. Make them your spotter and have them open up the fight for you. Glass cannon builds should try to avoid physical contact with the enemy if they want to live. Combine your skills with traps, as of right now I see you are amazingly easy to kill if anyone gets close to you, traps will help control your enemy movements and throw nice conditions on them. Keep Quickening Zephir at hand, not only for you, but when you send your pet to hunt your next target. Doing so at the beginning of a fight may seem a waste, but if your pet dishes out enough damage, your target will have wasted their healing skill, which basically rings a dinner bell for you to come charging in without them having a ready-to-use heal ability. Also, if you do not already, combine your amazing dps power with stacks of bleed.
