We will have some nice burst potential with the new Read the Wind trait.

This is the first build I’ll be trying:

Rapid Fire is currently 10 arrows on a 4.5 second channel. Take Read the Wind Trait and it is now on a 2.25 second channel. Add in Zephyrs Speed every 15 seconds for a Rapid Fire bust of 10 arrows on a 1.6875(1.7 seconds) second channel. That’s 1 arrow every .16875(.17 seconds) second.

Keep in mind this is just for the skill ‘Rapid Fire’. Can someone verify my math?

Sorry to burst your bubble, the cast time is not reduced by Read the wind based on what we were told so far. It only makes the arrows travel faster. It will be a faster channel due to QZ however.

Read the wind wont increase the fire rate, will reduce the time the arrow will take to hit the target, that will make the attack harder to dodge.
For example, lest say LB auto attack cast every 1 second and the arrow take 0,5 seconds to hit, with read the wind you’ll still cast every 1 second but the arrow will take 0,25 seconds to hit.

EDIT: If read the wind reduced the cast time, it would be an AWESOME trait and rangers would be jumping in excitement.

The only thing influenced by the new trait is arrow flying speed: that means it would be more difficoult to dodge your arrows (probably) but……the DPS is not influenced at all by this trait. Read the Wind is a Troll trait.

I’ve mentioned this in several of the other threads. If you’re own your own (obviously in competitive play not PvE), RtW is a solid trait. For small scale you don’t need piercing arrows. Thus you have 4 traits to consider for 2 slots. However SotB is not going to go on the same type of build that would be taking RtW. Either your using signets or you’re not. So really it comes down to a choice of 3 traits: RtW, eagle eye and spotter.

I’ll probably go with RtW. And that makes the second choice for me, if I’m going to be hitting with my arrows, I’m going to want the further range and LB damage boost of EE rather than the shorter ranger and melee and LB damage boost of spotter.

When you get in to group play, you’ll probably want to change traits. RtW is not effective if no one can see your arrows coming anyway.

You guys do realize he’s talking about using ZEPHYRS SPEED to increase the cast time not RTW right? RTW would make the skill Rapid Fire nearly undodgeable and make the damage FASTER in the sense the arrows fly faster, Zephyrs Speed, which gives quickness whenever you swap your pet (15s CD) would make you cast Rapid Fire at 1.5x the rate you normally do…

@OP: Fix the build, it’s showing a 10/0/30/30/0 build instead of a 30/x/x/x/30 build.

Also, the channel is kitten total, so idk how you’re getting such a short channel with quickness, I mean i know you fire all the arrows really close together, however you still have to include the “ramp up” time that the skill has where you’re NOT firing arrows.

Aaaaaaaah, that’s how he did it, I was assuming he was saying it was 10 arrows within X time due to them flying faster (IE the target actually taking the damage faster instead of having 1-3 arrows in the air while using quickness).

Yeah, I had an incorrect understanding of how RtW trait is going to work. That was my fault.
