Hey all,
This is a reminder thread to submit the bugs you come across to the game bugs sub-forum! It is hugely beneficial to us when you report issues found on Live to the Game Bugs Forum with steps listed on how to perform the bug (“repro”) or describe what is happening.

I will do my best to show visibility in each thread but I just wanted to toss out this thread to express how useful bug reporting can be after a major balance drop like we just had.

Problem is, ranger is so full of game breaking bugs from day 1 that frustrate the hell out of us all and they never get fixed.
It would be nice to show us some love once in a while rather than the constant swing of the nerf bat on the by far the weakest class in the game.

Any thoughts on how we are to distinguish ‘bugs’ from ‘undocumented changes – working as intended’?
Because there were a BUNCH of changes in this last patch that are so comprehensive and interconnected that it’s hard to imagine they are bugs, but they sure weren’t in the patch notes!
Pretty sure the pets count as bugs.
I just assume now lots of what we do is working as intended. If the things I’ve been reporting since day one are actually bugs, it’s tough to imagine how problems so big could have been ignored so long.
Though I really do hope that’s not the case ;( In the mean time, my reports will keep on flowing.
Sic’Em is bugged at the moment as it’s supposed to apply a 600 radius AOE 6 second reveal centered around the ranger. J. Sharp personally told me he wanted it to act this way and you have to believe me because I never lie. He also told me you forgot sync up the ranger weapon buffs to perfoce and should hotfix the situation right away.
1. Pets can’t attack moving targets.
-Steps to reproduce: Attack something with your pet.
2. Sword 1-chain roots the player using it.

Wait… “PvP Quality Assurance Embed” …? Can we get a “Ranger Quality Assurance Embed” person at Anet?

As a warning Tyler, expect a storm of bugs…Rangers have a lot of them, mostly dealing with our pets and certain traits and skills dealing with them.
Ranger are doing more dmg than intended.
Bugs? Ranger doesn’t have as many bugs as many other classes, rangers are just a terribly designed class :\
How can we know if a bug has already been reported ? the search function doesn’t work.
Wouldn’t be better to create an official discussion in this sub forum ?
And can some devs create a Ranger and play it in WvW for 1-2 days ? some bugs are really obvious.

I havent seen many bugs so far, but the complete mechanik we interact with our pet is broken.
Traits and skills feel like: “the ranger and a pet fighting against enemies” and not like “the ranger and his pet fighting together in synergie against enemies”

You guys can laugh, but he actually has a points with this post. I so often see people crying about bugs (forums, game, even IRL), and when I ask if they reported it, they always answer either “surely others did”, or “devs don’t care anyway”. For bugs to be fixed, they need to be reported first, and not many ppl do it.

First there should be an internal test.
Secondly you are right, there are bugs like the falling dmg in SM that are difficult to see, or the door glitches, we need to report them.
But a lot of bugs are due to distraction, Who didn’t saw the Sharpened Edge bug in the first 5 minutes of play ?

I’ve nearly played 3K hours on my ranger over 13 months and would like to help you since I tried various build and all aspects of the game GW2 has to offered but unfortunately you post this a few months too late.
I don’t care anymore about the ranger class being bugged,underwhelming,non responsive or whatever it is to the ranger and pet mechanic,i will just play and live with it.
But i do recall a comprehensive thread that has a compiled list of ranger bugs.It was stickied last time. Suggest you find that thread since it will help alot.

They fixed vigorous training right away for us.

I reported all the bugs I made threads on for patch day last time. Although I used the in-game bug submission instead of the bug sticky.
Thanks Tyler and welcome to the ranger forums. Any sign that bugs are being looked into is welcomed by all rangers I am sure. Rangers have a bundle of bugs though, the class in its design is probably half the story, as its design is as one person put it " bugged, underwhelming, non responsive" and not really damage efficient to cope with WvW and a lack of creating good hard base damage of which ranger really needs. But I for one am glad there are some Anet appearances on our Ranger threads, its great news as a possible starting point. I am sure many other diehard rangers will be more than happy to place any help/ guide needed to give Ranger class a good spring clean.

It’s more like ranger fighting against pet ai,pets unability to hit moving targets, randomly working f2 skills and enemies.

….still no changes infact it only got MORE bugged as time went on and some people are saying it won’t even start as of this last update. Multiple Videos of the problem presented yet no response telling us whether this was ever the intended behavior.
That’s important because most of the problems y’all find with Ranger falls into “Is this intended / just poorly designed / or a total bug?”. Not ever getting responses on those points, even after they increased their QA presence … makes it appear that anything having to do with rangers or AI is just too low of a priority for them to address.

Probably need to try this while NOT at their HQers. Like fly 1/2 way across the country and give the F2 a go… Disclaimer: Results may very.
Signet skills
When entering to Spvp room (already started), the signets do not provide their passive effects.
Anyone has the same problem?

Have to agree, I don’t think Tyler will be coming back to read this, or any other Anet employee.
So post your Ranger bugs in the “Game Bugs” forum.

Ok I’ll play along and assume the devs are suddenly paying attention. These are bugs I have noticed, reported, and confirmed multiple times.
Traps pull you out of stealth because mechanics are built to pull you out when someone is damaged.(Also bugged on thieves)
Pet f2 skills- You have to spam these like a madman to get them to go off at times(5/6 of the time)
Entangle and blind- working as intended that our entire elite becomes useless due to blind?
Longbow auto attack range indicator says I am not in range when I am. This prevents auto attacks from going off on both bows.
Signet of renewal seems to not pull condis off other players if obstructed sometimes.
1. Pressing dodge while autoattacking with the sword has no effect.
2. When activating signet of the wild’s active ability with signet of the beastmaster on the ranger cannot pick up conjured ele weapons & alrdy carried weapons will disappear upon activation. (ice bow, fgs, LH etc…)
3. Pet F2 skills sometimes don’t activate at all when pressing F2.

If you fight someone in the water with harpoon gun as ranger they can just swim to the surface and “surface hump” and you will alternatingly get “obstructed” and “out of range” even if you are point blank on the target, I don’t know if this is only a ranger problem or if it’s the same with all harpoons for all classes but it’s definetly a bug.
