Retreat -> Attack!:

“Retreat!”
Skill type: Utility
Cast time: instant
Cooldown: 30 seconds(I would put 15 seconds if there weren’t extra boons. The boons will differentiate between f3 and Retreat!)
Skill description: The pet will run away from the target, gain aegis, swiftness and regeneration.

Fear duration: 3 seconds(only to the pet for increased response time to get pet to run away)
Swiftness duration: 3 seconds
Aegis duration: 10 seconds
Regeneration: 5 seconds
Break stun

After using Retreat, you gain attack.

“Attack!”
Skill type: Utility
Cast time: instant
Cooldown: 1 seconds
Skill description: Pet will immediately attack the target.

Removes Fear.

Why have this? Because squishy pets may actually become viable. If the pet is low on hp, pop this skill and the pet will run away. If your pet is on AoE, pop this skill so they don’t die instantly.

Of course there are possible problems with aggro, which is why Attack! would be the second skill. This allows you to gain more control over your pet. If you see your pet moving towards another mob, press the skill again and f3.

Why have this? Because I like to melee. If I press F3, my pet will not run away from the target. Instead they just stand around and not attack anything. Sometimes, F3 takes too long to get pets out of there. It isn’t responsive or pet is just positioned wrongly.

Rename Guardian’s retreat with Incoming since it fits more and re-use the voice for retreat to Ranger’s retreat.

Honestly squishy pets really aren’t a problem if you trait enough beastmastery. Although I do like the retreat one a bit. Problem is, if it only affected the pet, I wouldn’t even bother putting it on my skill bar. It’s essentially just a worse version of Signet of Stone, but with better recharge.

My solution to this would to be to change some of the beastmastery traits, even the tier 1 ones, and add possibly a “pet takes 25% less damage under 50% health” or something.

Squishy pets are a problem in dungeons.

The thing is, pet shouts are suppose to only affect pets only. It would be silly that pet shouts affects humans.

Apples and oranges, SoS and Retreat! are two different skills that does two different things. It is essentially like comparing stealth thieves to bunker guardians. There is no way to argue your point because there was no connection in the first place.

You might not need to put it in your bar, but I will put it in my bar to keep my pet alive without the need for switching.

depending on your build / traits ect. pets have almost constant swiftness, some pets have regen skills on their own, if you go 15 + nature magic, regen from healing spring is shared with your pet, ect ect.

you can use f1 and f3 anytime without cd, so you basically want to waste a utility slot for a skill that lets your pet block 1 attack with aegis, not rly much more, much less, not so well thought id say.

since you say you would want this for the squishier pets, id say protection would be way better than aegis or regen, and perhaps let the pet teleport to the enemy with “Attack!” to make this skill idea at least a bit viable … id still never run it though.
