Returning player seeks "playstyle"

Hey Everyone, I’m recently debating on returning to the game as I’ve been itching to play Guild wars 2 as a Ranger.

I’ve done some searching around the website (as you should before posting a thread) and I’ve noticed that the overall theme of the ranger has stayed the same since when i last played, in that most people seem to think they’re a sub par class that need some very big changes. With that said, I noticed the thread ANet posted for ways on which the community feel the Ranger could be improved, and it’s got a truck ton of replies, so it’s definitely something on their radar.

Now, here’s the thing holding me back from returning and playing a ranger, I don’t know how to build my character.

I’ve got a wealth of gold i can invest into my character (80+) So armor, sigils, etc, won’t be a problem.

Basically the playstyle i’m after is a PVE heavy, Large scale events, Dungeons, solo play, things like that, I’m not much of a PvPer, so anytimes i go into the mysts will just be for something a bit different, nothing I’m really concerned in being built for.

I don’t really like the feel of the Sword, people seem to praise it, but the way you jut all over the place and it locks you into animations with the #1 spam are very irritating for me, so If possible i’d like to steer clear of that weapon.

So! Can anyone provide some links or builds that i can give a read and look through that feel would fit what I’m after? Thanks!
