Roaming Build
Traps and roaming are kinda 2 things that don’t mix…. It’d be like being a roaming turret engi….

Well what would you suggest for a roaming build then?

I’d say something with a very good amount of mobility, good disengage and good movement manipulation, and burst is always nice, that’s just me though, you could PROBABLY come up with a roamer build that does utilize traps now that I think of it, just make sure you’re rocking runes of speed!

This is what I go with:
I switch weapon sets between Axe/Dagger Sword/Torch and Shortbow Sword/Torch, based on preference and changing it up. When I run Axe/Dagger Sword/Torch, the weapon sigils go from Earth to Geomancy.
I also switch between Spike Trap and Vipers Nest based on the situation. I prefer Spike against players, and Vipers Nest when soloing camps.
I realize my build is heavy on ascended, so this is the alternative: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQNAV8fjAV11xVKWo2Bi2jMZeMxeYIH9IXB/D-jECBIOCy0CwUFBKPqIaslhFRjVzATliIq2roIa1A-w
I use this setup for every condi build I run in WvW, traps or not.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for.
I run GS+s/d, and generally play a lot like this (Exploits vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfEWpvAlu68&feature=c4-overview&list=UUusZTm3ghTzw5NlotflM2Ew)
I use this spec (http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQNAsYRnAV0FclFKWwaZAp9YSsEM5VI9cP8vOJELYSF-jkCB4NCikIBiIAMLqIaslhBp6KslXRT7ATdiIq2boIa1yAYOGA-w)
Not shown, i have a s/d set with bloodlust for some quick power stacks before i head out. The main idea is a ton of poison application, a ton of regen, and a ton of might stacks from sigils + boon duration (and more might next patch with Mighty Swap). The poison hurts other attrition specs badly, and the might builds the fight in your favor as it wears on. Sometimes i’ll swap LR for SoR if I’m going up against a necro who has Signet of Spite up.
In particular, 35sec of stability from RaO is really the only way i’ve found to counter the OP as heck perplexity runes (unless against a mesmer or thief, who may just steal it), and makes going up against warriors/multiples a lot more managable. If RaO is down, swapping troll ungent for healing spring and using leaps effectively can work nicely.
Personally, i think a condition build using the same trait setup would be a lot more effective for 1v1, but our condi weapons dont have much mobility (meaning if you dont have greatsword, sometimes youre just going to get run over), and condi specs suffer hard if you end up assisting the zerg (bad at tagging).
The main problem with traps at the moment is that 30 Wilderness is mandatory to roam because of the high prevelance of condition based enemies that also roam. Couple this with the strength of the regen in 30 BM or 30 Nature, and 30 skirmishing becomes a hard sell (its our worst line). Also, Skirmishing is a precision line, which will not benefiet traps at all. Combine this with traps requiring 2/3 utility slots, which means you either have to give up SotW (a near-must-have for most regen specs) or a stunbreaker (hard to live without with all the warriors around) just to take spike+flame trap. And for what? Some bleeds and burning that you couldve just applied with your weapons? Like i said, its a hard sell.

For roaming, i find a poison spam build to be nice. I once ran this kinda build, but i had to stop when the necro buff made necros over the top (just not fun fighting something that benefits from getting spammed down with conditions)

It really does destroy anything not specced for heavy condition cleanse. However, given the current meta, i can not promise that it will be as effective as during summer.
