Guild Wars 2

I been wondering to roll a ranger.
I alredy have a thief, and its is not bad, trough i found it boring, do to lack of support options. (besides blast finisher-stealth-heal combos),

So i think ranger would be fun for me to, but anytime i rolled one, i found it boring, trough i know early game is not like endgame, exspecially instances, but if there are any more experianced palyers in pve (like fractal runners) plse do enlight me.

Does ranger have any decent builds? Can it support? Or tank? Or anything at all?
Or its the tipical…hit and run and kite, and shoot and shoot and shoot, likekittenking WoW hunter ( i got really bored of 6 years of boring kitten hunter).
I do find pets interesting, but if its a tipical, nuke only class i am off for sure.
So how is the class in a bit more detail?

You can go support with Spirits, but they just suck atm.
You can go tanky, but lose lots of dmg. Grab a full P/V/T gear and take a Greatsword and your good to go.
You can do conditions with Sb/Axe-warhorn and traps, but Necros do it better.
You can go full Berserker’s gear and steamroll. I think glasscannon builds are atm the best builds, but you can do any of the one I mentioned.
Survivability is mostly based on dodges (some weapons have built in dodges like GS, SB, Sword).

rangers can do good damage in either a glassy setup (with either bow, or gs or sword/x), or a condition setup (with traps, sb, main hand sword).

i mostly pvp tho. from what i understand pets have a tough time living vs boss AOEs and need to be microd / use a range pet

Hmm. sounds like an all araund, but basically a just dps class. Whitch is quite dissapointing compared to the things Anet sead of the game.

Good team still seem to take Guardians and Warrior, and Elementalists isntead of simple dps -classes.
Expsecially after my guild sead : Its a class for the mob. Getting a bit discuraged. -_-
Yes there are quite insane many rangers right now, is it worth to roll one ?

Play ranger if you want a challange (in WvW atleast), Your gonna be singled out, rangers are known as free kills, If you dont want the problems that come with the class

well the common census is that rangers can only dps there is no way in hell he can beat a bunker guardian 1v1…
