Search and Rescue not working
I love Search and Rescue, even though it’s bugged and only seems to revive half the time. I like it because I can send my pet to help a downed teammate while I distract or knockback the attackers.
Skill just needs a few changes to be more useful.
- Fix bug where it only works some of the time (same with Lick Wounds)
- Increase revive rate and/or decrease cooldown time
- Cooldown should start once the pet starts healing
- If pet fails to begin healing teammate, instant cooldown
Thanks for the input. It may be a lackluster skill, but I also wanted to bring it to dev attention because it wasn’t listed on the bug thread. And it’s not that I use it often; it’s just the one time I tried it I noticed it wasn’t working as it should. It’s actually not that bad when you have shouts traited, have compassionate training and have points in BM. It’s not really a skill for other builds other than BM/pet/support. Oh and it’s actually useful if you are rezzing a player because your pet is rezzing, too, so quicker rez time especially if you have runes of mercy and quickness.
How about this?
Make the skills do exactly what they say they are going to do and not a after mashing the darned key six to ten times?
Main reason for not using SaR has to be the big drop in damage a ranger deals whilst pet runs off to do SaR and that it could agro more mobs in doing so or drag mobs you were fighting to the downed player and get them killed completely.
Lots of reasons not to use it but, it is fun in a non serious fight to have your crow landing on peoples corpses or having a pig race over to give the kiss of life
Search and Rescue can be very useful when the game bugs. Today, in the big Lost Shores DE finale, a player bugged out during the cinematic and fell into the lava which appeared when the floor beneath the Ancient karka collapsed. They could not be rezzed, as multiple players tried to enter the lava to revive him, dying in the process themselves. I switched out a spirit (yes, I’m an idiot, I still use spirits) for SaR, and my raven was able to revive him without taking damage from the lava! Once revived, he caught on fire and started taking massive damage, but got out of the pit. NOT useless…. though not fully functional lol.
I still use search and resque for dungeon play but in my opinion it has 2 flaws.
- As mentioned before the pet loses track of the target quite some times. This mostly due to the fact of downed state skills of the player it wants to res. (for example the mist form of Ele or Mesmer location change)
- Why on earth does the pet have to resque downed NPCs? It wastes another 1.25 minute cooldown for nothing. This skill is meant to res teammembers or am i wrong?
I used it just for kicks during the lost shore finale and it was awful. I went to res someone with it but they died before my pet got there. The stupid pet stood there trying to revive a dead player for 3 minutes until I finally sent him somewhere else.
So many trolls here.
Yeah it works fine 9/10 times for me but sometimes the pet just stays there without searching for downed allies. I’m pretty sure it’s bugged.
If it ressed them instantly or worked for defeated players instead of just downed maybe I would actually use it.
The issue is it still takes time for them to res, they can easily get interrupted, and it doesn’t work half the time anyway. There’s no real benefit to having my pet res someone. I’d rather res them myself and have my pet attack to keep the mob busy.
It DOES work on defeated players. It just doesn’t work period part of the time lol.
It’s just rather a poor skill when compared to other classes equivalent options.
It’s so kitteny that every other revive skill for other classes also have a passive buff, or extra utility built in, but of course the ranger’s revive skill gets a long cd and no buff or added utility whatsoever.
Heck engineers get a revive and cure conditions skill on their mere tool-belt! They don’t even have to fill up a utility skill as it is a toolbelt skill that comes in Addition to a regular skill. Not only does the skill revive allies in an area, but it also cures all conditions so it can be used for that too.
check this page out, you can see how all other revives are far superior, but then again that may not be too much of a surprise because after all, we are ranger’s
And as you know a certain company likes to Kitttten rangers in the A55.

Thanks for the link Zox. Funny because Rangers are the only ones that have 2 rez abilities, the other being Spirit of Nature.
