Splitbalde throws 5 axes that bleed the hit target. If you manage (close range) to hit the same target with all 5 axes it applies 5 bleeds to that target.

Sharpening Stone makes you next 5 “attacks” bleed.

When using Spllitplate in close range (hit same target with all 5 axes) after activating Sharpening Stone. 6 bleed stacks are applied and all remaining Sharpening Stone charges are consumed, i.e. you only apply 1 of 5 bleeds with Sharpening Stone.

Is this a bug?

Yea, its a bug, been that way since beta, and they’ve not fixed it

Meanwhile Barrage + Sharpening Stone is an amazing combo I learnt when levelling. Only really feasible for PvE content sadly, but still satisfying to do.

It’s effective for tower defenses as well I’ve seen people retreat from my barrage when I did this. They must’ve thought it was an arrow cart XD

Barrage with Sharpening Stones/keen Edges/sharpened edges/sigil of earth is actually a very nasty aoe bleed

It’s nice with Ricochet as well. Each thrown axes cause bleeding to everything it hits. So you can apply a total of 5 × 3 stacks over 2 or 3 targets.

Also good for my Axe/horn longbow bleeder build.

Nothing like dropping 25 stacks of bleeds on people

I’m pretty sure this is wrong and one attack bouncing 3 times will consume 3 charges

I thought it was a nerf, because it worked in BWE1 and BWE2 back when the ranger condi burst build was kittening everywhere lol, oh that build was so painfully obvious on how to avoid everything it amazes me it was so popular and “OP”. I think that may be why Hunters Call was nerfed too….

That being said, I would love my Split Blade to work with SS because I want to be able to burst bleed people…

This varies on the skill, not to mention skills like path of scars and barrage (apply to everyone hit and uses 1 charge only) throw a wrench in the gears.

I tested it multiple times on the training golems in the mists and in the open world. It’s also already in the wiki description.

You can easily hit 25 now without sharpening stone

But yea, If sharpening stone did work that way, My rampager build could pop people with instant 20 stacks with just splitblade

Sig of Earth + SE makes Hunters call a very very good condi attack, which is awesome.

PS: A bit off topic, but does Sig of Earth and Sig of Geomancy stack?

That’s dumb =(, one’s an on crit the others a weapon swap, they should totally stack…

Sharpening Stone works now with Splitblade. That is you can apply 10 stacks of bleeding on one target.
