Guild Wars 2

I have heard arguments for and against both of the weapons and I’m not sure which one I whatnot go with. I have looked at both skill sets and I don’t know what to use. I would use it to whittle down as much health as possible before they get to melee and then I will switch to sword and dagger. It seems to me that shortbows need to be much more mobile than a longbow. Also that longbow you need to be as far away as possible to get max potential. These both work to my advantage with my playstyle so I don’t what to choose. I think I might go with a abortive because you can bleed on your auto, which is goos burn in not entirely sure. Which weapon would be best for my sort of playstyle?

I have used Longbow & Sword/Dagger for a long time now, and I love it. Longbow stealth gives you a big, cozy window to cast heals, utilities, or Rampage as One, then chuck a Crippling Talon at those mofos and go to town with Sword chain.

Generally, the survivability you get with both sets is excellent and you’ve got all ranges covered with them. You can be really pesky with LB by slotting Quick Draw and Malicious Training and grabbing Jungle Spider/Wolf pets. A ton of immob and a nice, long fear guarantees you score a Point Blank Shot and Hunter’s Shot, pushing your foe back and allowing you to shift positions on the battlefield. I have had many, many people party invite me in WvW to tell me how annoying the LB + Spider/Wolf combo is — it’s really the best thing you can do for yourself if you choose to use longbow.

IMO longbow is only effective for zerker play types. I could see the usefulness in a bunker build for spvp, because the knock back would be nice for decapping points. But you would be going power build, and most ranger bunker builds are condi oriented.

As for bleed on auto, its only if you’re behind or to the side, which is difficult in a 1v1 situation.

I dont care what anyone says, ranger SB is my #1 favourite weapon in the game hands down. Its the key to how I play and no matter how many times I try other things, I always come back to SB in every build.

Sure, I wish the #2 wasnt a fan, and I do accept that some people might find it poor design that the damage all comes from the AA, but that doesnt mean the other skills are useless or that its an easy-mode weapon to use.

I love the LBs 2-5, but the #1 is just too slow and clunky for me. No matter how high they buff the damage at low range it wont change whats wrong with it for me.. It just doesnt suit my play at all, which is a shame.
