“Guard”
This would allow for the ranger to leave his pet somewhere in PvP (like on a node or a path) to either help or watch that area.
“Protect Me”
This would allow for more pet support while maintaining the current functionality of the skill. Would synergize well with “Guard” in PvP to leave pet at a node with the guy left to watch the other nodes to support him 1 v 1 or 1 v 2.
“Search and Rescue”
Would be nice if it didn’t have to be such a timed skill so it could be better used in every area of the game. Right now it is only good on a team using VOIP and even then it is the worst rez utility. Why not improve it everywhere else?
“Sic’ Em”
Already a pretty solid skill, just wish pet would listen to commands and not lose the buffs.
Thoughts? Personally, I would love to use Guard and Protect Me as support skills. The possibility of using Guard to have your pet go protect your guy or a path in PvP is really exciting to me as it allows the ranger to have a unique presence. I wouldn’t consider the Guard change too strong because separating the pet from the ranger removes a lot of condition removal from the ranger so it is a risk/reward play to use it. Then on top of that, could use Protect Me to help that player in his 1 v 2. Finally, if search and rescue was OP you could rez the guy and have him port to safety.
But mainly the guard and protect me change ^ are what would open up possibilities in my mind. So I ask again, thoughts?

Im using a shout build and I find it nice. Guard is nice cus every 12 seconds I get swiftness and regen with boon increase and regen 33% longer trait I can stack regen permanently. Protect me yet some more regen and a way to survive a stunlock burst. Siic em though I would like to see be a 2000 range aoe reveal anybody revealed gets the revealed condition for 4 secs. So you could reveal the thief that shadow refuged. Right now its to gimmick have to get it absolutely perfect right before he shadow refuges. Search and rescue might as well be scraped and made to something useful.

That’s funny cus I been dueling at the windmill in the boarderlands and havn’t lost a fight yet. I can pretty much out regen anybody in a 1v1. I am relying on condi dmg to kill my enemies though so I either win or some times it ends up being a draw. Also giving the allies around me perma regen is very useful.
As for sic em yes probably a dream for it to be aoe. As it is now though I don’t think its usefull enough a gimmick to deserve a utility slot. Fun in spvp that doesn’t matter maybe to troll some thiefs but not in my wvw build.

By bad, I meant inefficient in comparison to other ranger builds. I understand It would be good against other professions just purely by the regen but against another ranger it is bad.

You’re going the wrong direction with this. All but one of the guardian and warrior shouts affect 5 allies, or have an AOE effect on opponents (exception is On My Mark which gives 10 stacks of vulnerability to a single target). That is after all the definition of a shout – a loud exclamation heard by all those nearby. Ranger shouts on the other hand affect the pet and only the pet.

So ranger shouts are a prime opportunity to add some group support utility to the ranger without overpowering it (because their shouts are universally bad). e.g. Something like:
Guard: Creates a 3 sec lightning field which weakens all foes in or entering the guard area. 3 pulses for 2 sec of weakness each (6 sec max). No particular reason for lightning, just that right now elementalists are the only ones able to generate this field. Combos give swiftness (blast), daze (leap), vulnerability (projectile/whirl).
Protect me: Also gives 6 sec of protection to up to 5 allies nearby on 60 sec cooldown. (c.f. Guardian Hold the Line which gives 4 sec protection, 6 sec regen on 35 sec cooldown.)
Search and Rescue: Also gives 8 sec regen + vigor to up to 5 allies nearby. Stuff to help them survive better, which is probably what’s needed if you’re reviving a downed ally. Helps make up for the vigor nerf to healing spring.
Sic ‘em: Also gives swiftness and might to up to 5 allies nearby. If you matched the warrior’s For Great Justice (8 sec fury, 3 might for 25 sec on 25 sec cooldown), it would give 12 sec swiftness and 3 stacks of might for 40 sec on a 40 sec cooldown. But I think FGJ is way overpowered, and 10 sec swiftness + 3 stacks of might for 15 sec is reasonable.
This basically pulls the ranger shouts up to par with the warrior/guardian shouts, and I guarantee they’d be use a lot more than they are now.

Thats not the typical GW style of a ranger though. But I can see where you’re going with it. I’ll give you protect me, search and rescue, and sic’ em because those do seem like reasonable changes that aren’t PvP bias. But…. i want my guard.
