Q:

Is it just me, or is this signet vastly inferior compared to thieve’s Signet of the Shadows, which increases their movement speed by 25% passive?

Well, yes, of course it is. But Rangers are about to get an overhaul according to the devs, so I wouldn’t be worried about it for much longer.

I really hope they’ll imporve that signet. Or at least give us something to match the thief’s speed.

It is a terrible signet, but thieves will say rangers have better swiftness buffs to compensate. I guess.

The only good thing about signet of the hunt is that the active buff lasts 30 minutes or until the pet attacks. So if you throw it up between fights and pair it up with the raven’s f2 ability, you can have some nice opening burst.

Who cares what thieves say anyway?

I think the speed increase should be 25%. We are meant to be mobile profession. And I hate being forced to use Warhorn in WvW all the time .

Its passive sucks, its activation is decent. They should be buffing it soon, and Id love it if the 50% damage buff worked on double strikes and channeled skills like blinding slash and rapid fire.

I like the activation with the quick cooldown. I support buffing it to the Signet of Shadows 25%. I feel Thieves and Rangers should be pretty mobile and speedy, and in comparison to the Thief (mine is 80 and my main), while I see the condition and swiftness tradeoffs, the 10% with swiftness still doesn’t compete with 25% and teleports any way you spec.

I know with Thieves there’s a debate on if SoS is active in combat (still slowed, but faster than without), I’m not sure where SoH fell on that mechanic, but assuming the in-combat boost is a thing, it’d make dropping traps intro groups more fun.

Yea, it could change the way many rangers play. My build just started using it so I will like it either way.

i think rangers should have a minor trait line in survival tree that if we are equipped with bows we can move faster like,

like elem dagger + air, necro dagger, warrior melee weapon, engineer +kits

It seems like a ranger should be able to out maneuver a thief (the thief can after all burst more and stealth/escape better). Being able to out kite a thief would be some recourse (I don’t have much of a problem with other classes).

Boosting passive speed boost I assume would help with this (hard to tell in combat).

Having some way to break immobilize would help with this.

Fixing the “1” ability on the 1h sword would help with this I think (never use it because of being frozen in place).

As much as I want to say its balanced an fair it isn’t, the passive completely blows now that I’ve screwed around with a thief and used sif of shadows (still no where close to dethroning ranger as a main though) however the active has sealed the date for a great many things...
