Signet of the Wild. Does it actually work?
i sure that the damage bonus works, i’ve tested it comparing maul and rapid fire (i tested it on moose’s in a wvw bl). but I’m not convinced that the speed buff works on the player.
It does.
… All of it.

^^
It is probably the easiest thing on the game to test…
I stand corrected. For some reason I have trouble seeing difference attacking golems outside the Firebreak Fort, but it works on PVP dummies.

All of it? I never had the speedbuff apply to me, I assumed it was a tooltip typo sort of thing.
For movespeed, it doesn’t actually do anything while in combat (assuming swiftness or SotH), since the cap is 25%. This is a common trait with any movespeed modifiers while in combat:
“Effects that increase movement speed do not stack with each other — only the greatest effect takes precedence. For example, a character under the effect of Signet of Air (25%) and swiftness (33%) will only move 33% faster. Maximum out-of-combat movement speed is capped at 133% of base speed; maximum in-combat speed is capped at 125% of base.”

That would mean the signet taking precedence with it’s higher increase in speed according to tooltip, atleast to me it gives no speedbuff at all.
Read the last line again. Your in-combat movespeed is capped at 125%.
So if you’ve already got a 25% modifier, nothing changes, since you’re already at the cap.
It’s why people with swiftness and 25% modifiers have the same in-combat speed.

And I’m saying it doesn’t give me any speedboost in or out of combat regardless if I have other speed enhancements or turn them off specifically to test this.
Too bad its not a stun breaker. I mean it gives you stability, but I guess it’d be a little too much in 1 skill.
I’d be ok with dropping the speed bonus for it to break stun O.o

Stunbreaker with a slow cast then xD I’d drop the speed too for instant cast and stunbreaker (not the least since i’ve never experienced this speed xD)

The way speed works in this game is the highest bonus is applied, nothing stacks. So if you have +50% from super speed and swiftness, you’ll only be effected by super speed for its duration and then swiftness will take over afterwards. So that 25% is there, you just rarely will experience it on a ranger on certain builds (a lot of swiftness on ranger kit).

Since i run LB, S+h , i generaly use Sotw to gain that speed boost.
after using rampage as one+ a blast (when i need a heal of healing spring)
there will be a down time in Speed after they wear off , not too long of a gap mid you about 6-10secs untill the horns cooldown if finished, since i don’t use traveler or Signet of the hunt.
during this time where i am Vunrable to Aoes (due to low Speed and at this time i maybe chained because of said low Mobility Excluting sword 2+3)
I activate Sotw and Cover that weakness ( i don’t even run Signet mastery thanks to the way i use it) only for a Second source of Emergancy Stability and speed rather than the damage increase which i see as a bonus to apply some extra pressure to get the target to back off.

Yes you are not the first person in this thread that has explained how speed boons work in this game, I already knew that before he said it, and if you’d read my previous reply to this you would know that I have specifically tested signet of the wild without any speed enhancements at all to see if it in fact does apply a speed boost to the ranger, it does NOT or atleast it does not to me perhaps this is a bug for norn rangers I don’t know but I will test it on my human aswell just to see.
In what way was it tested?
I ask cause keep in mind norn with/without speed boost run very slow in animation. Using signet of the wild makes you even bigger and you will still look slow after using sotw.
Now with that said, does sotw affect siege weapon dmg?
;-)

I did it in numerous ways the most apparent one is probably using the active of the signet and racing your pet to a mob… and see him shooting like a rocket ahead of your own slow kitten , but even just watching your character run it would be visible just by looking, I mean you can instantly tell if the 25% is on just with your eyes so how would you not be able to spot 50% then, I tested on both human and norn btw.
I actually tested it with my fellow Ranger friend – racing each other with and without the signet. Worked.
(Both with Signet of the hunt and Without)
