Silvary: a race matter...
1. Its personal choice, but Norn looks ways better than a Sylvari, IMO. The whole plant thing looks silly to me.
2. Norn Warriors always look cool.
3. Norn racials are horrible. Period. I don’t think any other races are as bad. Norns shapeshift into somewhat useless animals.
4. No idea. Up to you.
1) I play a norn female ranger and she looks awesome. There are some really nice looking armor sets. Especially the Norn Cultural armor is nice and the Krytan armor from the item shop looks awesome on female Norn.
3) I love the norn elites but I guess it depends what you play most. For example the snow leopard is the best escape skill in the game. It can stealth you three times for 5 seconds in the 30 seconds uptime and you have two charges with huge range in these 30 seconds.
This is especially useful in WvW if you are solo roaming. It saved my life dozens of times. But it has 4 minutes CD and I don’t really see anyone using it to fight.
The other norn racials are not really used. They are fun but not really powerful. The Bear form charge can hit like a truck if you buff it with sigills but its rather easy to dodge.
Go Norn Elementalist imo if you dont have one. Elementalist elite skills are somewhat questionable in value. The sword is good for escaping. The tornado is a gimmick and of no real value for anything. The other one that spawns the elementalis is what most use by default. This means the stealth from jaguar form for Norn is a good alternative imo.
Sylvari ranger is a good choice. If you ever decide to get Kudzu it will feel more appropriate. The problem I have with Sylvari is if you don’t run with the cultural or TA stuff it doesn’t look good. This is why my Sylvari are light and heavy classes as opposed to medium. That said, sylvari with the thief starter hood actually look good with the glow and bright eyes.
I say just stick with Sylvari.

Couldn’t agree more!
oh oh oh XD ok guys thank you for help but i decided to go with norn! (i’ve already a warrior, human) and i’ve to say only few things: really epic race class! really! GS counterattack block is ò.ò i haven’t words to describe… just chuck norris flying kick like XD and above all this class suits really cool with norn story; they are hunter for definition, they protect spirits of nature (gs 2# and 3# are bear and bird, or wathever <.<) so i find that combination really good for me now i need only 1-2 days to recap it to lvl 80 (with professions of course XD).
Yes, the GS #2 and #3 definitely fit with the Norn better than the Sylvari. I just keep telling myself one day I will go for Kudzu. One day...
The point is for you to connect your character with your profession in a way that feels natural. For me the whole sylvari theme of being one with nature goes very well with ranger. Especially if you get the T3 cultural armor, it looks fantastic, you won’t even need an anonymity hood from a thief, the helmet itself or your sylvari plant looks make up for it. Make sure you put some inspiration into making your sylvari, mine has a nice deep blue glow and with the T3 armor it feels like I am playing as a warden of the pale tree. The T3 cultural GS looks very neat too, you can use it as a skin over any exotic that has the stats you’re looking for.

1. I’ve always loved sylvari. But they also have the advantage of looking like two races, sylvari and human. If you put a hat and fabric looking clothes on, it’s only your face that reveals you as a sylvari. And then you can do something as simple as take your hat off, and suddenly you look more like a sylvari again. See pics below for examples.
2. I love norn Guardians, because you can make them look so huge, which fits really well with the “guard” archetype.
3. Norn has the Snow Leopard racial elite, which can give you stealth for 5 seconds and a 1600 range dash. This is very good for escaping bad situations, and the snow leopard transformation looks great.
4. I also have a sylvari Thief, which I really like, because of the whole “green forest camouflage” theme the sylvari has. Necromancers and Engineers are also fun for sylvari, because it can be such a colorful race.

disagree with this…
theres the animations (idle and running are both very distinctive)
voice shouts (‘IM WILTING!’)
different… is it anatomy? their body shape is different to humans
@OP ewwwww norn, salad all the way
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]

a salad will be my future necromancer XD
for now i’m stiked with my norn eir like char (it’s the only female cute face i can find ._. ) but damm i’ll go with the krytan armor skin… because t3 is really expensive… really
Also i finded some interesting things about norn (and maybe this isn’t the right section… but … )
1) ranger female norn auto attack with gs looks faster to me o.o is it an impression or what?
2) ranger female norn gs 4# block is epic, but 90% of times doesn’t push back foes…

Agree on everything but:
Norn elites are just AWESOME! Ever entered Bear form in WvW and chased a thief over 2000 yards, kicking him down, stunning him with your GS #4 afterwards and eating them alive? BRILLIANT!!
Or escape a boss fight using the snow leopard stealth and afterwards picking up the entire party while your bear holds the boss in combat? also: Brilliant!

The long cooldown + short duration + better options (Entangle, Rampage as one, or even the Elite Spirit) makes me never use the Norn ones. I have only used them when I am just “messing around”.
I see RaO and Entagle better in WvW. And I see Spirit of Nature very useful in a boss fight for getting allies back up.
All in all its just my opinion. If it works for you that’s great. I just cant seem to find a reason to give up a slot for any of the forms.
Female norn rangers are awesome, Also male sylvari with cultural gear is awesome too (what i have).
The racials on both are interesting but id like the norn ones more because you can kite away easy with the forms, stealth and sprinting far away then a possible swoop is like an easy get away. Both look awesome with the ranger itself and the armor choices they have are great.

Honestly I can’t stand any other race than humans in this game (call it a Guild Wars 1 bias). Asura are small and arrogant, Norn lack intellectual depth, Charr are warmongers, and Sylvari and naive moving plants that belong in salads.
Humans are fairly versatile. They can fill numerous roles, and have a nice deep lore than is not only told by the story (from guild wars 1 til now), but can be seen on particular landscapes.
Given this is all personal opinion, but the only other interesting race that has ever had a protagonist role in guild wars 2 is dwarves, and unfortunately, lore makes them unplayable in guild wars 2.
If you’re dead set on making a different race though, everything > sylvari. I’d make a skritt or a quaggan before I make a sylvari.

guys can you suggest me some hunter’s armor (i mean armor for “hunters”… which look like hunters xD) for female norn?
i only finded the tier 3 and the krytan armor from shop but while the first is really expensive (really ò.ò) the second one isn’t so cool…
can you suggest me a particular equip? in particular an equip… emm … not so “hot” because i don’t want to look as a babe but an hunter (… an aggressive hunter xd ) eheh
There you go:
1) Which one looks better as medium armor wearer: female norn or male silvary?
—> Its up to you. Norns have mutch better armor sets, but male silvary has a nice armor-like and colored skin with pathetic face & hair options, and an anonymus hood looks mutch better shape like in a human male.
2) Which class can i choose for my future norn char (if not hunter)?
—> They use it for warriors mostly, but guardian is same good. Try the looks of Necromancers, they can look real kitten.
3) Talking about racials… i finded “healing turret” really cool for pve; what about norn’s racials?
—> IMO Racial skills are very weak at Norns & Humans. Charrs and Asurans have the best I guess.
4) which class can i choose for my silvary (if not ranger)? maybe necromancer? or thief?
—> Anything you want. You can make nice looking combos. Necro, Thief, Guardian looks best.

hey RoyalPredator
thank you for answer, but now i’ve solved this problem XD can you help me to find a good armor set? (descibed in the post above your)
Also, i’d say: norn racials aren’t so bad at all… don’t misunderstand… they are good for “fun” not for competitive pvp/dungeons.
Anyway i finded the call wurm strangely good ò.ò maybe for the knock down on wurm attack and for the additionl damage… or the “wolf transformation” which give us really to many ways to gain HP and a goo party support with fury and regen i think this can be a very good alternative for pve (always for fun eh) to our elite if we want to be a bit more of support for our party really interesting…

Norn Racial is great for solo roaming especially on a guardian or warrior. Stealth and sprint away.
My ranger is norn, but only because I wanted at least 1 norn character and I already have 2 sylvar, a charr and asura chracter.
If I started with ranger first, I would have gone with sylvari. The racial elites fit so well with ranger. You can summon a second sylvari hound with your main fern hound pet, or a oak spirit to go with your small spirits.
The seed turrets also fit with ranger because he can control plants with his vine skills.
Only a few weapon skills really say norn.
