I just thought I’d throw this out there. I’d heard that they can’t make pets immune to AoEs and other “avoidable” damage because that would make them megatanks that would be unstoppable in combat, so I thought of a potential solution, give pets a “downed” state. Not defeated, like they currently have, where they are completely useless, give them a downed state similar to players get.

Basically, when a pet reaches zero HP, they drop into a downed state. In this state, they have all their attacks, move normally. and all their DPS, but any threat they generate is automatically transferred to the player. Also, while in this state, they can be targeted with direct attacks, but take zero damage from AoEs. They can be recovered from downed state by swapping, or by healing them back to full. This way, they can continue to contribute to the Ranger’s damage, but they can no longer tank damage away from him, so perma-tank pets is no longer a concern.

I would imagine that a player using melee pets while in a dungeon or some world events would have their pets in the downed state most of the time unless they chose to be a pet-tanking micro-manager, but that’s ok, because they’d be fine like that if you weren’t counting on them to tank for you.

or, just make it so we can pick our pets up, ala player style. OR get rid of the 60s cd on death thing, that’s just stupid. We’re the only class forced into using our mechanic.
