Sinister Thoughts
I’m not much of an open world WvW’er myself anymore, but Sinister is imo the best damage set available for ranger and I would dedicate myself to using it almost exclusively if it were available in PvP.

You may be right, jcbroe, but I’ve always felt like precision was “less good” on Rangers than on other classes given that we don’t have nearly as much “good stuff” on-crit as other classes. Not to mention that critting some classes activates some of their traits.
That being said … it is nice :-)
… I just sometimes wish it was Condi w/ Power & Toughness (or Healing).
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.
Solid build, you can minmax with rampager(its also easyer to get).
1)Swap strengh of spirit trait to natur’s bounty(synergise with oakhear skave and rejuvenation).
2)On SB you dont go with energy sigil, take air or earth.
3)Try to swap bark skin to EB and evasive purity to nature’s protection(both options are fine, it realy depends what build your foe is running).
I’ve been think about sinister for a while as a glasses condi roaming stat (if they remove bleed stack caps then it might be use pve as well)
I’ve been meaning to mix in some to my rabid gear as i got the jewelry from living word achievements and i have the dreamer. so i can go mostly sinister and use either my rabid armor or celestial or make some exotic sinister.
I would suggest that i would run it and play it as a typical rabid build just more glass and it does seam to be a match made in heaven for shortbow. Maybe something like this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNQQNAV3YjEq0yaBL+rQ1aADhqdL8uVNrAw9O8CXdBbqA-TlSFABMcQAA4IAQsyP2uAA+qDQPlgBr+DcaGSZ/hkfAAkC4upRA-w
My only real concern is that condition take a little longer to kill then power as it damage over time but but the extra power on the short may be the difference i reall need to test it
It’s a nice setup, I want to do one very similar, but a bit more sustain. Sinister Armor, Celestial trinkets, Rabid weapons.

Here is one I’ve been wanting to test out. I just really hate the thought of crafting….
I figured since I’d be losing the tankiness I would throw on some trapper runes and be a good deal more evasive.

I share the same concerns as far as condi dmg, it does seem to take a bit longer. I don’t mind it too much, its just a tad bit to slow. And i was thinking the same, that the extra power would be nice to provide some sort of “base” damage of sorts.
I been playing around with the editor here and there all night and have been trying to hit that magic number of 3k armor, but it seems everything i adjust takes the power or the condi damage down below what i would like.
I’ll keep playing with it a bit more before i make anything. I’m tired of making armor sets only just to figure out that its not worth it.
The other thing i was trying to stick with was the travelers runes, so i could give up the signet and put in something else, but i might have to change them.

I think that this will be a worth while set to make if only for pve when the condi caps are raised

This is probably what i would run for a hybrid build if i weren’t to lazy to get Sinister stats ( May seems like a weird stat spread but there is this voice in me that says: “2k Power without guard stacks! Bloodlust is ok tho. Oh and don’t Forget you NEED a bleed tick of at least 100. WITH guard stacks this time! >:( . I dare you not to get there.” So yeah… that’s what i’d run
For OOC Mobility you can swap in Warhorn, will leave you with only bou 5sec swiftness downtime. And you can of course swap out SoR with SoS and all that personal Preference stuff in the traits

so i have been roaming with sinister stats (rabid armor) rocking a typical rabid trait set up of 0/2/6/6/0/ using poison master and i must say it was fun, being friday night ocx time i didn’t not get many dues (a PD thiff some sort of war a couple of necos and a mez) but i did play for about an hour in a small party.
I found, i could flip a camp almost as fast as a zerker, duels seem ok i think against better opponents i might struggle and in a duo it was great.
also the short bow hit pretty hard with out bleed procs so that was kinda nice
I think making a set of sinister exos would be worth it for a bit of variety
