Small changes that could help the ranger.
Well put, agree on all points.
Signet of renewal probably could do with a shorter internal cd, like 6-8 seconds or so.
LR at the very least needs to remove immoblize, but preferably also remove cripple and chill like you said. Remove the damage part from LR, since it’s useless anyway. Reduce cd.
this class needs everything but small changes. I don’t even bother playing my ranger anymore but in the 20-30h of spvp i spent on a ranger were atrocious. I mean,,,,,,,1 stun breaker LOL ONE… That’s just amazing.
I don’t pay too much attention to stun breakers because they aren’t that important in most of PvE and ranger utilities are so bad you know the handful of good ones and ignore the rest, but rangers have at least two stun breakers. Signet of Renewal active appearently breaks stun (I know it’s has an infuriating 60 second cool down – compare this with almost every other profession’s signets and you will see rangers were never “balanced”, they were forgotten when the final round of class buffs went through, which is why their signets were so terrible). Lightning Reflexes also breaks stun.
I don’t know how good a 60 second cooldown on a stun breaker is (it seems pretty bad to me) but it is there.
I’d like to see fortifying bond and a bunch of other pet specific traits work for both the pet and the ranger. When I play my ranger I find myself noticing a severe lack of boons compared to what most other classes have. It really feels like the game makes you build either the pet or the ranger, it’d be great if building for the pet didn’t constantly make your ranger worse, but also actively helped your ranger. A build which had boons received with by the pet shared with the ranger (and vice versa) would be a lot of fun.
Also, Heal as One is one of the most boring heals in the game. It’s a spike heal, which is great, but it really feels like a relic of game design from the days when Healing Spring and Troll Unguent did not apply to the pet. Its reason for being used to be it was the only way to heal both you and your pet directly, now that all ranger heals do that, it has no unique value, it’s just a powerful heal. Healing Spring is one of the most interesting heals in the game (it can be traited to apply vigor, it constantly removes conditions and it’s the best water field in the game,) Troll Unguent is good for sustain, Heal as One is as boring as they come. I really wish this skill was more like withdraw, or at least give it some niche condition removal (like poison and bleeding).
Those are my two small changes that would really help the ranger.
Yeah Mending Touch FTW I miss that skill in GW2 on my ranger
