Snowball Mayhem scout sniper shot for ranger
My wish is that they add a crossbow weapon. The auto attack is a chain of 3 attacks, first attack is 1/2 second long and does damage, second attack is 1/2 long and gives 1 second of fury, third attack is 1 second long and shoots two arrows that pierce. 1000 range.
- Skill (Lead Arrow) 1/2 cast time. Causes 2 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds and weakness for 5 seconds. 10 sec CD. 1000 range.
- Skill (Ice Drake Shot) Instant. Causes a chill that pulses every other second for 6 seconds. 15 sec CD. 1200 range.
- Skill (Dead Eye) 3 second cast time. The longer you hold the button down the more damage the shot does. Release at 1 second shoots 2 arrows, at 2 seconds 3 arrows, at 3 seconds 4 arrows. Cripples for 3 seconds. 20 sec cd. 1500 range.
- Skill (Hide!) 2 second cast time. You blend yourself and nearby allies in a flurry of leaves for 3 seconds, causing all attacks to miss. 30 sec CD. 600 range.
Man that would be so cool
Well, unfortunately, this skill was given to warriors for their rifle already. This is basically Kill Shot, only with a ‘press-and-hold’ mechanic. I think they pretty much did away with the press and hold abilities for players, outside of siege. At least, I can’t think of any remaining atm.

- skill 2: is a bit strong for a 10 second cool down (weakness + confusion) which are arguably some of the best conditions in this game. pick one or the other.
- skill 3: crossbows basically work like rifles, i don’t know if you want this to be a spray attack or another circle-type shot
- skill 4: i’m fine with this. if an enemy let’s you stand kneeled for 3 seconds without doing anything and allows themselves to get hit by this, they deserve to.
- skill 5: is this invisibility? or is this blind?

Hmm I would rather have confusion on #2, bad players will fight through it, and good players will either use condition removal or stop using abilities.
For #3 I was thinking just single target, fire it once and it would pulse the chill. Kind of like the arrow was slowly injecting the ice drake venom. Maybe you could turn this into a cone attack /shrug.
And #5 I was thinking it would work like the Mesmer blurred frenzy skill, no stealth, just immune to damage.
Playing the scout felt like what I wanted the ranger to be in GW2. It made me kind of sad.
That being said, I just play my thief like a ranger and it’s still closer to my ideal than the actual ranger. Le sigh.
@Italyguy, your proposal is cool, but a crossbow doesn’t need do be overcharged so i would rather see a “more long you press much better it is” on a longbow. Anyway, having a crossbow would be really cool!

I agree, I’d rather see some type of charged, arcing shot on longbow or something.
To be fair, though, crossbows may not need to be “overcharged” but they do have a long loading time that could be factored in, so be careful what you guys ask for :p
It could be like crossbows in Mount&Blade or something, where you have to spend a couple seconds loading each shot.
I’d gladly trade in my Hunter’s Shot for something like Camouflage (The Invisibility+Swiftness from Snowblind) and would love to see Point Blank Shot changed into Sniper Shot.
Heck, the base mechanics are already there. All we need is a hold-down ‘power-up’ feature for Point Blank and rename it into a Sniper Shot. One tap would be the regular damage+knockback; and holding it down would give a more powerful shot

Well Rangers do have some nature magic in them, that can be used with skill 4 of the longbow to do something similar to a kill-shot, put it on a 30 sec cooldown, give it a max range of …. 1500 or something like that, damage is affected by how close the target is to you (closer = less damage) this also affects the current skill 4 knockback (closer than the current range for skill 4 provides a push back) which helps preserve the original use of the skill. So you have more than 1 use to skill 4 other than a quick way to push the enemy out of the way, which actually is fair considering how many skills the melee oriented classes have to get close to you. After all it gives the Ranger a way to focus itself on being adaptable, using a nice sniper-like shot when the situation is appropriate. Naturally damage cannot be overwhelming we don’t need to have a spammable skill either. Oh and just for kicks name it Hawk Eye, if the skill will be balanced out somehow then ANet can make the skill to be ‘arcing’, meaning it goes over the shot can be directed to a single selected target, when the Ranger releases the shot it shoots up and it lands on the target like a hungry hawk. The reason for my suggestion on the balance is due to the Ranger’s piercing arrows, naturally it would be amazing to land this technique without an arcing effect hitting everyone in a single line, but I wonder if that would be overpowered? Well there you go that’s my opinion.

I just played scout today and it was too much fun, I cant even touch my ranger again after that. I feel like I got the short stick….Off to lvl rifle warrior, closest thing to scout.
