Guild Wars 2

Yup deleted my lil Asuran Engineer for a Ranger, because I could not really get into it. It was fun but just….eh.

Then I remembered my original Norn a ranger that the only flow I found in him was that he flops like a fish when he does the kick attack.

So to the point any, advice for someone who has not played as a Ranger since the games release, or will they just be the same as before?

Eh, pretty much the same as before. Some very minor tweaks and semi-fixes, but nothing that makes you go ‘wow, the class is on par with the others now’.

Amazing in 8v8 imo, so they are great for screwing around, gaining glory, and having fun. I haven’t done any tournaments but everyone says they are awful in there so oh well.

I keep coming back to the ranger because the other classes don’t really do it for me, but the Ranger has serious problems still, especially in PvE.

Just running around and leveling they are great, and really easy. But once you get into high level fractals or explorable dungeons the pets are a liability. They get one shot by bosses and have 0 agony resist.

In WvW and sPvP the ranger can hold their own, but many classes can do what the ranger does better. They can bunker, but not as well as a guardian or warrior. They can burst, but not as well as a thief and they can do condition damage but not as good as a necro.

If you like the ranger, play it. But you have to accept their many short comings.
