So I'm a fresh 80 Ranger, recommended gear?
From a PvE Standpoint.
Once you are familiar with the dungeons, Full Berserker Armor/Trinkets/Weapons is the way to go. If you’re a little unfamiliar with dungeons you might want to mix up your gear.
I use on my ranger Shortbow, Axe/horn, and red moa to keep fury up permanently.
If you are poor just use berserker gems to slot the armor with.
if you have a little bit of extra cash i find that 5 runes of the scholar with a ruby gem brings the best dps to the table for ranger.
So to simplity things…While including a Master Maintenance Oil, + 80prec 8% crit food and Crit sigil 5%…
(I have just berserker gems no scholar runes)
Attack Power:3226
Crit Rate: 91%
Crit Damage: 107%
hitting raptors in the wvwvw zone for 980-1.2k dmg with shortbow
Axe doing about 1.4k damage on a crit. (Almost every hit lands a crit)
Its no 100blades…but the shooting rate of the bow that can shoot through targets and the axe that bounces off targets…Your damage is going to be extremely high if not maxed out for a ranger not including pet damage. I am honestly happy with it, some fights where no one wants to melee Legendary Shaman I am looking at you from fractals of the mists your ranged damage will be at the top with thief and engineer.

5 stat points – upgrade slot of Trinkets and Backpack
7 stat points – ascended Backpack & Orbs
8.5 stat points – ascended Ring
9.44 stat points – ascended amulet
10 stat points – traits (not an equipment, but listed for comparison)
12 stat points – Glove, Shoulder and Boots
12.8 stat points – 1H Weapons and Amulet
13.33 stat points – Earring
14 stat points – Backpack (rare version)
14.22 stat points – 2H Weapons
14.4 stat points – Coat
16 stat points – Ring, Helm and Legging
So your rings, helm, & leggings should definitely not have crit damage on them (knight’s will make you tankier while still providing damage). Place a Exquisite Ruby Jewel (or the jewel that gives power/vitality/crit damage) in all trinkets (including backslot if not ascended) because the amount of attribute points lost to crit damage gained is insanely high. I would suggest your coat also be power/precision/toughness but that is up to you. As for runes/orbs, I have ruby orbs as a placeholder for when I feel like divinity runes will be worth buying.

So you recommend a super DPS based build for PvE then, I’m going to presume?
And also, does the fact that I craft my berserker armor matter? Or is there a specific way i should go about obtaining this gear?
you can craft it.
but if you are patient or have a little more time on you, I recommend doing Citadel of Flame, collect that 1400 tokens or so to get a full set of armor from there. Its 10 minutes for path 1, 15-25 minutes for path 2.
Its a much cheaper alternative, if you have the time and patience to collect the tokens each day.
1400 tokens / 60 = 24
24 paths.
12 runs with p1+2 with 1 character
nearly 2 weeks...
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
Personally I went for the exotic karma armour, Rubicon armor of Lyssa in particular because the stats seemed quite balanced and the Superior Rune of Lyssa has a really cool effect.
I’m using a Mystic Crescent (made in Mystic Forge) for a shortbow and a Knight’s Pearl Stinger of Force that I crafted as a longbow.
Hope that is useful :-)

Can I only run it twice a day? or is it that the amount of tokens I would receive would go down if I ran it anymore?
Forgive me, I’m new to dungeon running.
Personally, I went with a more ‘tanky’ build – a full Clerics/Guardian Armor/Runes. All 5 of my ‘trinkets’ are Berserker with Ruby Jewels. Weapons I have a mixture while still experimenting with the upgrade slots.
I cut my gaming teeth on Adventure&ZorkI,II,III.

you can run it more than once a day but your tokens for that path diminish.
For Example,
Doing path 1 on the same day.
First run:60 Tokens
Second run:20 Tokens
and it gets lower each time before the dailies reset.
I forgot that if you have other 80’s you can run them the same day an hour apart or so and still collect 60 tokens. With one 80 it would take quite a while, with multiple 80’s you can go as far as to collect 700+ Tokens in one day :P
hmmm…
personally i found that a knights set (Power, Precision, Toughness) with Carrion (power, condition, Vitality) and Beserker attachments (power, precision, crit damage) to work fine. this allows me to be tanky enough to take a couple hits from pure burst warriors, allows me to room to make a mistake or two (by being tanky enough) while still being able to apply good all around damage that isn’t that dependant on a single type of damage.
Edit:
…personally, i like tankier builds and prefer out lasting an opponent with perma cripples, knockdowns, and interrupts (since DoT classes are meant to slow down the pace of the fight).
…don’t just focus on your armor, since it really only effects you. take into account your pet choices/playstyle as well.
