Bow of Truth: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.
Hammer of Wisdom: The health of this spirit has been increased by 33%.
Sword of Justice: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.
Shield of the Avenger: The health of this spirit has been increased by 30%.

Where are our spirit buffs we’ve been waiting on since beta nerf? You guys even mentioned on the State of the Game interview that spirit ranger was nerfed to extinction so why don’t you fix it?

Hahaha, I thought that too when I saw it.
Doesn’t mean that Guardian Spirits didn’t need an HP buff, but why increase their Spirits HP and not the Rangers while you’re at it? -shrug-

I agree, it makes no sense at all. They are talking about spirits like it’s a done chapter, and it’s too late to fix them. All they have to do is make them more survivable.

I’d really like to think that maybe there was a mistake and they forgot a huge part of the Ranger patch notes.

Ranger spirit health was buffed by 25% in January. Of course nobody seems to know how much hp ranger spirits have vs guardian spirits.

Actually I think I’d prefer it if they reduced the cooldown on the spirit skills to 30 sec (but the spirits still stick around for 60 sec). That would help alleviate both the survivability and mobility issues, since you could resummon it after 30 sec if it died. Right now if something targets you with an AOE while you were summoning the spirit, you basically have a useless skill slot for 60 sec.

It would diminish the usefulness of the spirits unbound trait though.

What are you talking about? I run a spirit ranger all the time and let me tell you that they’re already OP. Our spirits don’t need buffs. Heck our entire class is darn near perfect and-

oh…sorry, I gotta go now. The nurse lady says it’s time for me to take my pills then go for nap time.

I have a ranger, as i do a guardian.

You’re missing one important point. We all know how squish these are. For example in higher lvl fractals or certain boss fights, it still wouldn’t change any outcome.

Maybe within an aoe it lasts another 2 ticks but still dies within one skill cast. What really is the point of it.

This is insignificant. There are more pressing issues with the class.

i literally got excited reading the patch notes in order – i thought if they buffed guardian spirits which are already viable, they must have done for rangers.

Rangers literally got the least attention of all professions, and i know someone has to, but rangers need the most work imho!

But you missed the point that it is a pvp oriented update and that there is content that exists outside of fractals.

Not to belittle the point that there are more pressing issues, because that fact still stands.

Well if you say pvp then it’s a side i won’t step into. My stance is Anet needs to separate values between PVP and PVE like most action MMOs already have. This isn’t even a wow reference.

Until they do so, they’ll never achieve the balance players desire. It’s just like condition damage. The only reason why condition damage can be so much more effective in PVP contrary to PVE is in the vast difference of health pools we’re dealing with.

edit:

It’s not that I’m saying its a great patch. But everyone needs to look a little deeper and realize this. Anet takes ‘balance’ seriously. As you can see the changes made are very ‘safe’ changes.

I think the ele got quite a bit of attention this round. Who knows, maybe they’re exploring one class at a time.

Just know that whatever that seems obvious to us, is going to take a few months to implement for them. I’m just as impatient as you are. But we need to prioritize bringing their attention to where it matters instead of diluting that attention.

They did that in guild wars 1, and it was effective.
In guild wars 2, they went with the decision of content over quality, then released the game in beta, and are now taking naps at work instead of fixing the game, and not implementing the same things that made guild wars 1 pvp a success like split skills and observer mode.

Spirit Weapons were terribly frail after the last patch and getting killed far too easily, especially considering they spend most of their time in melee range of enemies. The buff was perfectly justified, and I don’t really know if even thats going to make enough of a difference. I’ll have to actually test them out.

I hate the mentality of “Well if we don’t get buffed no one else deserves to either”. Buffs should be given where needed, not given out only if other professions can get buffs too.

Not to say Ranger spirits don’t need improvement (personally I’d prefer a reduction of that bothersome internal cooldown over health, but exactly what needs to be improved is another matter), but complaining about something that needed a buff getting improved just because ours didn’t get buffed too is just petty.

To supplement your thoughts and what I’ve said so far;

GW2 is GW1 in theme only. They’re making it entirely unique experience. I’m going to mention WoW. As much as some jump onto the hatewagon, it was a really great game. But this is s peaking from having last played it 3 years ago prolly.

For such an old game they made many tweaks ad righted many wrongs. Anet seems to be very wary of being labeled a wow clone and have completely disregarded any references which could’ve improved the game.

As such we see many half baked implementations which disappoints us. It’s almost as if they’re green. When i said half baked, it’s not because it’s bad, it’s just like foreplay and your partner gets up to leave when you’re ready for main course.

There but not quite yet.

Not a single person in this thread has complained that guardians got a buff (unless I legitimately missed that person post scrolling though). People are only complaining that on a class that has a similar mechanic that is just as in need of work as another classes received the work it needed, and that it wasn’t an across the board improvement in something that is lackluster for more than just 1 class.

Saying stuff like “You fixed the wrong spirits” is pretty much implying that Ranger spirits should have gotten fixed instead of Guardian spirit weapons.

And Spirit Weapons and Ranger spirits are not very similar at all, really. The similarities end with the fact that they both have “Spirit” in their name and the fact that they’re both summoned. So just slapping a health increase on all of them accross the board probably wouldn’t be the best approach.

I’m glad guardians got a buff. Even though I use a shout build on my guardian.

It’s baffling that my terrible ranger spirits didn’t get a buff though. It’s been so long since I’ve seen somebody use Ranger spirits, I had to think for a bit to remember what they looked like.
