So many broken/useless Traits (discussion)

I main a Ranger and got over 800 hours of playtime since and even played in the betas before.
This is only my opinion on the traits and I’m trying my best not to list too much traits because of their weakness and only the ones that are really useless or broken.
Feel free to discuss about changes that could be made etc.

Markmanship

  • Beastmaster’s Might
    1 Stack of Might for 5 Seconds when you activate a signet?
    Seriously?
  • Remorseless
    Often does not work
    Also, this is a grandmaster Trait? wtf
    imo this should be the minor 25 trait and Opening Strikes should always be critical without any trait

Skirmishing

  • Companion’s Might
    “Grants 1 stack of might for 1 second for the Pet.”
    WOW!
    If i’m very lucky, my pet will make an attack in this one second! But seriously, in almost any case, that won’t happen.
    Also does this only come from ranger crits and not from pet ones (who’d have thought that? Pretty sure a condition/beastmaster ranger with felines wouldn’t)
  • Carnivorous Appetite
    “Pets gain Health on Critical hits.”
    This time the pet has to crit.
    I guess many Rangers with 100% crit wonder why their pet does gain so little health, lol
  • Moment of Clarity
    Grandmaster?
    For me, it doesn’t seem that usefull.
    Sure, if you’re an Asura this might will become on of the best traits you can have.

Wilderness Survival

  • Healer’s Celerity
    “Grants swiftness to you and your ally when you revive someone”
    I haven’t used this one as often as others, so I’m not 100% sure, but if it gives you swiftness when you start rezzing someone it’s useless.
    If it starts after you healed someone… it still is pretty useless since they can better dodge if needed

Nature Magic

  • Circle of Life
    “Create a healing spring on death.”
    Only useful if you die. You don’t want to die, do you?
  • Vigorous Spirits
    “Spirits have twice as much health”
    Now they can take one hit more
  • Spiritual Knowledge
    Because 15% more chance will make you prefer spirits over banners, yeah, totally
  • Spirits Unbound
    “Spirits can move and follow you”
    Seriously, we do have too much of such grandmaster traits.
  • Evasive Purity
    “Dodging removes blind and poison from you. (10s cooldown)”
    Not useless, but definitively nothing worth to be a grandmaster trait

Beastmastery

  • Zephyr’s Speed
    “You and your pet gain 2 seconds of quickness when you swap pets”
    Useful for yourself, useless for you pet since quickness will most likely already have ended when the pet reaches the enemy.
    A little bit useful for spiders and in close combat, but even then the first attack from your pet is very long so it won’t do that much for you
  • Master’s Bond
    “Your pet has a bond with you that increases its attributes each time you kill a foe. When it is defeated or deactivated, the bond is reset”
    Because Pets don’t need to be switched to survice </sarcasm>
  • Stability Training
    “Ursine, porcine, and armor fish pets gain stability (3s) when disabled”
    Could someone explain to me if there is a hidden use for it or something?
  • Instinctual Bond
    “When you are downed, your pet gains quickness”
    Not really useful for lick wounds.
    Could be used to kill an enemy to rally, but sadly most rangers don’t know that you can still control your pet when you’re downed.
    Also, this will most likely not be enough to rally since the pet has to reach the enemy and most pet attacks are even then too slow
    And again, not sure if this is really worth a grandmaster trait

I was thinking about posting this in the german forums, but since there aren’t as much (good) discussions as here, I decided to post it here.

Feel free to discuss about the mentioned traits and other traits.
Please stay on topic (traits) and not change to skills/pets etc (if not somehow connected with a trait)

I don’t attract, I don’t repel. That’s kinda odd

Moment of Clarity is pretty weak unless you melee with GS, it should be triggered by pets as well IMO. Remorseless is just… terrible. Does anyone here actually trait it? I wouldn’t slot that as an adept in any trait line, let alone as a grandmaster in Marskmanship.

I think zephyr’s speed is pretty sweet considering it’s a 5 point trait, especially if you’re melee/BM you can give your pet 6 stacks of might during those 2 seconds with your sword, also it’s very handy for ressing people.

But Evasive Purity on the other hand.. yeah still bitter about that one.
Can’t belive they thought nerfing a skill that usedto clear a condition from yourself and any nearby allies on a dodge to this… thing we have now was reasonable.
I mean removes blind? Really? Do you know what else removes blind?
Auto attacking … and it dosen’t even require you to invest 30 points into a trait line.

Yeah removing blind is utterly useless, an autoattack is faster and doesn’t waste endurance. Evasive Purity basically just removes poison on dodge. If it removed burning instead of blind it would be useful, if it broke snares it’d be great.
