Soulbeast Dagger vs Sword Damage?
I’d like to see the white damage as well on the other 2 abilities. the double leap looks very strong on its own, so it has the potential to be our strongest MH weapon. I’m worried that sword will become completely irrelevant, and MH axe will continue to suck outside of condi builds.
Judging from the numbers I saw on the video- with berserker amulet, sword chain will do about 25% more “pure” dmg compared to dagger chain. But there are many other variables that will come into play.
The sword got build in cripple that synergises with the “predator’s onslaught” trait. We also don’t know yet how the might gain will work while in beastmode, it might apply on yourself.
The dagger can make use of maximum offensive stats(gear, might, traits) to apply both pure and condi dmg. The dagger got build-in quickness(sword needs to be traited for that) and 2 extra offensive skills(the sword extra 2 skills are more defensive). The dagger got a very good synergie with the"Predator’s Cunning" trait which will also raise DPS for both power and condi builds but the Dagger trait will only buff condi/ hybrid builds and will be harder to get on pure offensive builds(you will have to go WS).
So, you can make arguments for both, and that’s exactly what a good design is all about.

imo, this is how most weapons should be: scalable with condi and power. MH axe and SB still have ways to go to be effective with power builds.
It’s reasonable to assume the one video shows her using the dagger on either a zerk amulet or some other power build based on the damage of worldly impact.
If that is the case, then I doubt the dagger will outpace sword in a power build even with near perma quickness from the trait and dagger 3.
I guess we’ll find out in a week here though.
Reliable Leap ?
Reliable Quickness ?
More of less the same coefficient ?
It’s going to be taken over Sword dancing leap and quickness on evade trait. lulz
With Predator’s Cunning, you play stabby stabby like a teef.
Only thing left on Sword is probably higher power damage and evade frames. That’s it.

The sword does sub par damage on all three skills. While no2 might not need a damage buff, both the auto chain and the serpent strike need buffs.
- auto attack chain damage buff 15-20%
- serpent strike buff 100%

It’s Pretty Safe to Assume she uses a 4-Stat Power Amulet + a Power Mainstat rune. She hovers over Crippling Talon for a second and it shows 594dmg and that’s pretty much the setup you get that dmg with (=
Covenant of Bloodthirst [IvsI],
Favorable Winds [Wind]
Also worth considering that Dagger can trigger the lifesteal trait on its auto and also apply vuln.
Also even in a full power build, those bleeds and poison will still do damage.
Crippling Talon can easily crit to 1200, 1400 in a power build (wvw), nothing crazy but MH Dagger could (have to) work in power builds (Double Arc base damage is not that bad + Instinctive Engage will have ammo) with good beast skills damage.
Sword / Warhorn & MH Dagger / Axe : if it could shine, i would be so happy.

Yea, that would be a nice combo. S/T – D/A too imo, whirl finish the fire field with Axe5. Either that or a big heal from a group fight and whirl finish a poison field (vipers nest, spider pet) with Predator’s Cunning.

And that allows calculating the damage coefficients, giving
dagger #1.1: 0.4
dagger #1.2: 0.4
dagger #1.3: 0.4
dagger #1.4: 0.5
dagger #2: 1.0
dagger #3: 0.6
which can be compared to
sword #1.1: 0.7
sword #1.2: 0.7
sword #1.3: 0.8
sword #2.1: 0.8
sword #2.2: 1.1
sword #3: 0.8
You’d need activation times as well to compare DPS though.

Well, the cast times on Dagger 1-4 is the same as Sword 1-3.

Well, the cast times on Dagger 1-4 is the same as Sword 1-3.
So it’s 1.7 vs 2.2 then.
Not as bad as I thought since dagger 2 and 3 is dps improvement compare to sword 2 and 3 which is a dps lost.
Also, take in consideration Quickness on demand, Vulnerability and Lifesteal damage (small, but still).
Like I said, the only thing left good for the Sword is dancing around.

Which is a big part of playing Ranger competitively.
