I’m just curious, do the passive triggers work like thief venoms?

From previous patch notes:
“Devourer Venom: The number of uses on this skill’s effect will now decrease if an attack lands or if the attack is negated by Blind, Block, Evade, Obstructed, or Invulnerable.”

Are spirit triggers consumed under the same conditions, or do they only have a chance to trigger on a successful hit?

Lets say a thief uses Devourers venom – If I attack my target twice, and both times they block/evade/are invulnerable or I miss due to blind, both devourer venom charges are consumed.

I’m asking do passive Spirit procs function in the same manner? Which of the following ways do Spirit procs work –
- Every time a Ranger makes an attack, there is a 35% (or70%) chance a spirit passive triggers. If the attack “is negated by Blind, Block, Evade, Obstructed, or Invulnerable”, the passive trigger is consumed and on ICD.
- The spirit ability only has a chance to trigger on a successful hit, So “Blind, Block, Evade, Obstructed, or Invulnerable” attacks don’t even have a chance to trigger spirit procs.

Oh so you’e asking if having an attack miss still sets it on ICD. I got you. I’m not entirely sure tbh. I’d assume it didn’t but I do a lot of WvW so spirits don’t see much use. Sorry.

I’m 90% sure they trigger only on a successful hit. But that’s not all that bad. Since the 10sec. cooldown on their effects only starts after the effect’s activation.

As razor said, pretty kitten sure it can only proc on hit. I actually suggested this be changed so it can be evaded, blinded, blocked, etc, but we will see what happens next balance patch. Currently, the spirit build has a bad rep for being extremely easy to play because you can practically win by just spamming 1 and this is part of the reason why.

It works nothing like venom. How it works is a buff (think fury/might) and for the time its up your attacks add a +burn / +10%dam / +protection / +swiftness. Miss/block works with it like a regular hit, so if miss/block it doesn’t add the effect on top.

That is why with the 70%rate folks when looking at s/tpvp think its over powered never mind the on use effects of them. (Really easy to counter btw their still soft // condi = dead spirits.)
