Spirit supportive overlap.
I think Frost is best, because that’s what everyone is using that tries to max out damage.
It’s probably because Frost doesn’t have an internal cooldown, so it procs a lot more. Also, burning can only stack once, so maybe not that good in boss fights.
It doesn’t overlap with any other class burning except the same spirit.
If you want to buff your allies, the most reliable will be to trait vigorous spirit and use frost spirit.
If you want to use sun spirit, you don’t have to worry about it overwritten other’s burning. Whoever apply the burning used their own condi damage to apply the burn.
storm is alright if you’re running around by yourself. hit an ambient creature and free switfness 70% of the time on crit if you’re traited right. cheaper than traveler’s runes.
Don’t forget the Storm Spirits active can do about 3k damage on a non-crit. Depending on the content you’re in, it can either be useful or useless.

Dungeons = Frost
WvW = Sun, Storm
PvP = Sun, Storm, (stone for most).
Am I good?… I’m good.
So does storm remain a good option even without the spirits unbound trait? I always had trouble taking storm in any scenario tbh, maybe dimily looking to it’s active effect, and not so much for the prosoproc swiftness?
Without Spirits Unbound, I’d argue that Storm Spirit becomes less powerful since the main DPS use for Storm is to get it close for its active.
If you’re looking solely for DPS increases from the passive procs, then Frost and Sun spirit are going to be the ones you’re looking for.
