I think this skills has a cool idea behind it and is some interesting new mechanic. The more unfortunate it is that this skill does nothing of significance at all. There is almost no difference to what the autoattack already does. The damage is almost exactly the same and you are even more at risk to miss dmg because it all happens in a single tick instead of three. The healing is also not better than the staff auto beam, it actually fills AF slower.

Astral Wisp needs a significant improvment! It either needs to be a skill that you want to hit on cooldown because it has a significant effect (like maul compared to GS autoattack) or it needs to add something to the table that the autoattack does not (mechanically).

If you used it on a boss with a lot of people around it, it would charge your AF tons faster.

Has anyone used this skill with Quick Draw? Can you have two wisps at once on the same target?

Imo, this skill is crying out for pet synergy, like the pet attacks against foes with the wisp attached Poison or something like that. I’d also make the wisp pulse damage every second in an AoE, doesn’t need to be huge, but it would help with tagging and AoE.

Agreed, the skill is pretty useless. It takes time to cast and does the same dps and healing as aa. The #2 skill should really be a good damage dealing attack just like most other weapons on every class. In fact, the staff only has 3 viable skills, in my opinion, #1, #3, and #5. The #4 also never ever hits for me, and even when it does it’s only a 2sec immob. Better spend that time auto-attacking instead.

it use to be used in combination with lingering light to trigger mass blinds every 3seconds while astral wisp was being maintained but that got hammered to 12seconds.

ether way in a PvE situation thats a lot less blinds vs a boss which means a lot more incomming damage during lingering lights down time.

i honestly think they may as well just Put lingering light effects into asteral wisp and make a Enterly new Grandmaster now .

well thats upto anet to ether reduce its Cooldown make Asteral wisp a bit more useful again , or improve lingering light to increase Asteral wisps radius so it can Circle wider effecting more Allies.

or just combine Lingering light into asteral wisp and make a new GM that effects the Staff Entirely aka added mechanics or improved wisp radius.
