Its definetly more for full time healing/control/mitigation. Like its designed for more intense fights.

During the dragons stand meta event I find myself using all 5 skills quite often. Putting the 2 on a stalker to help heal the people they are shanking. 4 is really good for slowing down a back of mordrem wolves. Five is good for snipers. 3 is just plain good but I mostly use it for quick reaction heals and to position myself before I enter celestial avatar form.

I think its mostly up to what your doing with it and whether or not your actively looking for places to use each skill.

I agree its very easy to sit there and 1 spam. But if your watching theres places for the other skills as well.

Edit: The staff is as much a shield for others than a weapon for yourself. If you have a damage focused playstyle then yes its a pretty boring weapon. But if you have a support based mindset when using it’s other skills shine.

Staff 2 is begging for something more, i.e. synergy with pet, condition application, or an added boon. I think fixing this alone would make it feel less “boring”.

Staff is the only weapon that doesn’t trigger additional effects on the pet attacks, so I agree with you completely. Personally I think it should increase pet damage for x seconds or cause pet to inflict poison, vulnerability or weakness on next attack.

It would be nice if it triggered something on the pet, but many Rangers (not me) hate their pets, so I can see why they designed Staff the way they did. Skill 5 has too short of a duration to make it as useful as I would like.

Thank god they put a blast finisher on #3 otherwise it would’ve been the most boring weapon in the entirety of the MMO genre.

Ya you need to break the press 1 barrier with staff.

In group play skill 2 will generate AF much faster than pressing 1. Skill 2 could really do something more. Maybe a pulsing dmg that scales heavily from power stat and burning or torment. Something, anything to make the skill more than another AFG.

Skill 5 is projectile hate but also a water field that can be blasted by skill 3 which itself heals a decent amount.

The skill that feels off for staff is probably skill 4. I’m sure it’s better than nothing but that’s about all I can say about it.

The cast time on skill 4 is painful, for sure. I keep using it, but can’t understand why, to be honest

These are all such good suggestions. I agree that Staff #5 feels just a tick too short. It’s actually the same duration and cooldown as Whirling Defense, but because it looks and acts more like Guardian’s Wall of Reflection it feels like it should last that long too (10 seconds). 10 seconds is probably a bit long since Wall takes a utility slot, but I’d live to see what 8 seconds feels like or even 6.

I also agree on Staff #4. I like this skill in general, but it feels like it wants to be instant cast and the root is possibly bugged. I think it’s supposed to be 7 seconds of immobilize, but no player or mob that I remember has stayed rooted anywhere near that duration.

I think that staff is great.. for healing. not for damage all the skills barely do damage and only have healing effects I’d like to see them add more damage effects on them or atleast conditions?

I’m really enjoying staff, great for PvE and coupled with Smokescale, Druid can pretty much Solo everything
