Staff still has zero pets skills
Superspeed for 3s on ancestral grace activation
The truth is, we should have 0 pet skills on our weapons. So Staff is actually an improvement. Not more power wasted on the pet.

- Astral Wisp heals the pet
- Ancestral Grace heals the pet
- Vine Surge removes Cripple/Chill/Immobilize from pet

Pet skills as in things that synergize with the pet.
You could literally drag and drop the staff onto any other class and nothing would be out of place mechanically.
Could always try not using a staff, heard it’s great for our new elite ability…

Pets are Rangers class mechanic and our weapons should work with them. It would not be wasted power for the pet to get an additional effect added to the staff, like the shadow step I mentioned or just something, it would only serve to improve both the pet and staff substantially.
Also, all your points are assuming you are using a melee pet.
I see your point, but I think heals kinda natively synergize with the pet as it is. I.E. Wisp is superb for most pets.
Vine Surge seems the most likely skill for a direct pet synergy. Something like inflict extra damage on the pets next attack if you immobilize an enemy.
Something more off the wall might be the Pet’s next attack is a (blast?) finisher if you immobilize an enemy.
