So I have been playing a Ranger since launch and up until last night I was never asked to stow my pet… my initial response was"how"?? One of the Rangers in my group told me to click the button (looks like an arrow) close to my Pet pic. I know it was the right button because when I hovered over it it said “stow pet” however when I clicked it nothing happened. Are there rules regarding when I can stow a pet? i.e. I was in combat, am I not allowed to stow my pet then? what if my pet is dead, can I stow? And will my pet automatically un-stow once I enter combat?

Yes, when you are in combat your pet is always going to be out. If you stow your pet before combat it will still come back out as soon as you enter combat, not all people know that who have not played rangers. Putting your pet on passive is useful, and just use F1 to tell it which target to attack, F2 for it’s special ability, and F3 to call it back to you if it is taking too much damage. Always try to call your pet back before it dies or swap it out with next pet quickly if it won’t make it back out of damage in time, this keeps the cool down on pet swapping lower than if it dies.

Stow pet is useful when you pet gets in your way on jumping puzzles, and I always have my pet on passive in dungeons and tell it when to attack, but I have it guarding when I am running around world solo.
