Strategies Against "Ranger Killers"
Sword dagger for 2/3. Empatic bond or no wvw for #1.
perplexity runes: let your pet do the work while you sit it out
immobilize: sword 3, dagger 4, sb 3
p/d thief: sick em, pet with fear, pet with knock down
phantasm mesmer: axe 1 in a power build
conditoin necro: condition signet, emphatic bound, healing spring
power/toughness/reg warrior with high condition remove and movement and cc and all and greater than all noob build what ever: i use the asura elite attack golem and the asura radiation field combined with the fire field, a spider pet ( wolf as backup ), and muddy terrain. when i time it right they melt.
Kodash
Stomp some Piken!
Runes of Perplexity
Immobilize
P/D thief chain blinds (Black Powder, Blinding Powder, Blind on Stealth, Signet of Shadows in one build)

This is all from using my Woodsman build and coming from a wvw perspective:
Runes of Perplexity – Rampage as One, GS #4 block against ranged interrupts, signet of renewal, runes of hoelbrak, and empathic bond all prevent / wipe confusion stacks pretty easily.
P/D Thief: Main focus of their build is essentially to sit in a target spot to maximize their combo fields. Just use swoop to move them out of their comfort zone followed by path of scars when they inevitably try to chase after you. Also whirling defense, GS block, and a good swoop to be out of their maximum range ruins their build pretty hard, especially when they try to chain spam their pistol main hand sneak attack. Just remember that in a 1v1 situation in wvw you’re not forced to fight in the immediate spot you found the thief. Make them spend utilities / steal / initiative to chase you around and they’ll be vulnerable to combo attacks.
Immobilize: I hate immobilize and chill on my ranger the most of all conditions. GS #4 block tends to help quite a bit with regards to potentially staving off attacks while immobilize is on, or popping signet of renewal, or getting lucky and having SoR or empathic bond cleansing it early helps too, but that’s a pretty heavy gamble. Runes of Hoelbrak help with reducing immobilize duration at least.
Don’t play a power ranger
Condi Regen Bunkers do well against these things. Try a 0/0/30/30/10 type build

Power Bunkes do well against these things too!!!
Try 0/20/20/30/0 Cleric/Celestial/Berserker, go for nature voice spam guard.
You´ll perma heal for 350/s have perma swiftness/regen/fury and almost perma vigor/ protection.
With my 80% boon duration RaO grants me 36s of stability… I laugh @ stun warriors and perplexity engis xD
Btw… witch this setup my maul still crits above 4k.

You and I have very different opinions on what a power ranger is
Power Rangers are rangers who get their damage output from POWER and direct damage.

P/D thieves aren’t that bad if you use Spiders, they’ll usually die before RoA is up (making Perplexity useless)
just make sure you have Sic’Em to pop on them when they hit half life.
Now…Necro’s on the other hand, those are ranger killers

Sorry meant D/P permastealth blinders.
Sorry meant D/P permastealth blinders.
My previous post goes the same for them too. Using movement skills like swoop / sword #2 or #3 at the right time and the thief is swinging at air until their stealth runs out or burning a whole lot of initiative trying to keep up. Also if you ever want to get a good laugh a well timed longbow knockback, or for sure path of scars will interrupt the hell out of their perma blind/stealth combo.

Wait em out till the 10th and then laugh as they try to relearn D/D.
You can build to have a decent 1v1 chance against most classes/builds pretty easily. That’s not the problem with Ranger, the issue is not having any get out of jail free cards like other roaming classes when suddenly outnumbered/focused on.
