Title says it all. In order to stop the whining threads, and to keep the ranting down, let us focus our minds on a simple task; Choose ONE ISSUE, and ONE ISSUE ONLY and come with some ideas how to make the weapon/item/skill/trait more useful.
Do not make thousand words long essays about ranger nerfs. If you want a change, you need not spam threads with whining, you need to keep things organized, clean and on-topic.
Do not compare to other classes, do not exaggerate. I know this is not an easy task to do, but keeping things simple, make’s it easier for us players, but also any potential devs who reads this to find specific issues instead of a sea of complaints.

I appreciate what you’re trying to do but this forum has had no shortage of constructive posts/threads with suggestions for improving the ranger. I’ll do you one better though and just link a thread I created about a month ago. It’s filled with suggestions for improving traits. Pick one.

If I can only have on suggestion then its just to scrap the class entirely.

If you aren’t going to show it any dedication what so ever, just get rid of it.

There’s so many things wrong with the class already, one suggestion isn’t going to change jack. It’ll take more than one kitten suggestion just to reverse the nerf of this patch.

Until Anet decides they care about the ranger class, I won’t either. The class was easily my favorite but I won’t sink another minute of my free time into a class that’s getting worse by the patch.

Issue: Pets happily stand in red circles until they die.

Suggested solution: No, don’t do the obvious “pets avoid red circles” fix. That breaks pets in the situations where you want them to stand in that red circle because getting their F2 skill applied or continuing to tank a few more hits is more important than the pet surviving.

Instead, change the peaceful/aggressive toggle into a three-way toggle. peaceful/aggressive/cautious. Peaceful and aggressive work as they do now. Cautious is the mode where the pet avoids red circles and other environmental damage sources (like lava).

Longbow Point Blank Shot cast time reduced from 3/4 to 1/4 and range increased to 1200.

Resulting in:
600 knockback at up to 200 range
500 knockback at up to 400 range
400 Knockback at up to 600 range
300 knockback at up to 800 range
200 knockback at up to 1000 range
100 knockback at up to 1200 range
knockdown at 1200+ range

Why:
The cast time is too long. A lot can happen in 3/4th of a second at a range of less than 600. And there is no reason to limit this skill to 600 range when this is a 1500 range weapon, except perhaps for the name of the skill. The limited range causes this skill to be very rarely used and the long cast time causes this skill to be very rarely useful. The longbow is lacking a way to keep the target at max range, like with a cripple or immobilize, so a knockdown at 1500 range would be a great option to have.

Another nice update to longbow would be:
Range of all Longbow and Harpoon gun skills increased to 1500 by default.
Eagle Eye trait changed from 5% to 10% damage and range increase removed.

Why: Longbow has nothing compared to the shortbow unless you trait into it. Give the longbow an advantage, even when you don’t trait into it. The ranger has problems with skills(spirits, traps, signets) and weapons(longbow) being very lackluster unless you trait into them.
