[Suggestion] Soulbeast improvements
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Should Happen
- Allow us to swap pets while in Beastmode (see Elementalist). If necessary, give “Leave Beastmode” a cooldown after swapping pets in Beastmode.
- In Beastmode, F1, F2 and F3 should all count as “Beast ability” and should all trigger the traits for them. If necessary, give the traits a short cooldown.
- Pet F2 should trigger Live Fast trait since it’s a “Beast ability”. At the very least, it should give it to the pet.
- Pet’s Prowess should give the full 30% movement speed while in Beastmode. It has to be able to compete with Druid’s Natural Stride.
- The master traits all have odd requirements. If your build doesn’t apply poison, quickness and protection, then they’re all worthless.
- Second Skin should always work, not just when you have protection.
- Essense of Speed… I don’t even know… it’s strange. Hard to trigger and the effect is tiny.
- Predator’s Cunning remove the poison requirement.
Wishful Thinking
- Allow us to use pet F2 skills in Beastmode. If necessary, give us a “lesser” version if the effect is too powerful. For example: Jaguar in Beastmode would only give 3s stealth. Would make Beastmode far more interesting.
Agree with it, We also need imrpove Dagger MH abilities: faster AA, burst second skill, maybe some daze to third
Eternal Bond must be more defensive: maybe 3 second invulnerability and resistance?.. no health.
Essence of Speed must gives 25-33% run speed, because beastmastery traitline is useless for Soulbeast and we cant access druid’s Natural Stride

That would be such a waste of a good trait when we already have oodles of access to increased movement speed.
To the most important change would be to add “pet swap” while in beastmode. It feels incredibly clunky to keep swapping in and out of pets while waiting for CD on beastmode. Other than that, daggers obviously feel very lackluster both in damage, mobility and whatever else is there. Hopefully, we get some changes
Lock soulbeast in beastmode when we take this elite speck and add petswap. Balance around this “petless” option instead of this double swap system it is now.

The double swapping system is actually quiet fun and it should be a double swap system. So you can swap in beast mode. It would give more fluidity and the biggest versatility a class could have in a game. I can understand why they let us keep the pets. It would gut the dmg of the ranger without our pets.

New trait:
- You can no longer leave beastmode. Pet f2 and pet swap become available in beastmode.
I made this video of stuff not going to bother typing all the info.

The request you responded to was “make petless Soulbeast equal to base ranger’s DPS”. We already know that rangers have better DPS with a pet than in beast form, that’s the problem!
We shouldn’t have to give up DPS just to play in a WvW zerg, nor should we have to do so in order to exercise some basic control over our skills.
I posted this in another thread but I will repost it here:
1. Tie soul beast traits and abilities around a specific condition. Similar to how Reapers are interact with and benefit from chill, Soulbeast traits and abilities could be synergize with bleed. The theme would be merging with your beast gives you a unquenchable blood lust so seeing your opponent bleed gives makes you stronger.
2. Some Soulbeast abilities have a duality to them(for example Vulture Stance) were they change their benefits depending on the condition of the enemy, but this is applied inconsistently. This can be applied to all of the stances and even more of the traits. Similar to how Revenants gain benefits from switching back and forth between spirits, soulbeast can have benefits from swapping between pets while in beastmode.
3. Give the Soulbeast more abilities and traits that scale with the amount of allies around them. This would give them a leader of the pack play style where they want to be around as many allies as possible. Think like Guardians Strength in Numbers trait but scaling from allies instead of level and giving offensive benefits instead of defensive benefits.

No it should be with a pet. It gives utility for dmg. When you are zerging you rely on the dmg from you and from others and you would buff allies with stances. In 100 people the dmg loss from no pet wouldnt be an issue and while roaming it is actually an advantage to have a pet that can pressure enemies from a different angle. Furthermore you can revive your pet with entering beastmode and leaving it again.

I wonder if this is intended? If so, it’s a major buff to all rangers for sure.
