Guild Wars 2

I was thinking of trying to play one. But I don’t really know which weapons I would use, and what utilities. Warhorn seems like a shoein because of the buff, but I don’t know which mainhand I would use. Maybe axe? Sword doesn’t seem like a very good choice, and axe would allow me to remain at range.

I was thinking of using spirits, but apparently most of them suck or just don’t work, so what, if anything, would you recommend I use to try to go for this?

I know I’d probably end up going beastmastery/nature magic, but other than that I’m pretty much at a loss.

I’m not sure support ranger is especially viable these days since spirits are nerfed so badly.
However, some ideas of what things can help:

Pet:
Use a fern hound since it heals.

Skills:
Use healing spring since it is AOE heal.
Use Signet of Renewel as it removes conditions from allies.
Use Search and Rescue to revive allies.
Use Quickening Zephyr to speed up your heals on downed allies.
Use Spirit of Nature as your elite since it heals and revives and removes conditions

Traits:
(nature)
Natures Bounty makes your healing circle do more healing
Concentration Training makes your pets boons heal more.
Circle of Life makes a healing spring if you are downed
(beast)
Commanding voice makes pet functions cool faster (fern hound healing)

Weapon:
Use sigil of water on your weapon for heals.

Axe,Warhorn as an offhand gives speed to your allies.
As a second weapon, long bow has a knockback which is very useful in knocking baddies off your friends who are in trouble.

I’ve been wanting to do this to i might give it a try, also is the fern heal the F2 skill or a passive it use’s on its own as, Moa’s have a heal skill but its random so you can’t really decide.

I’ll have to try that out.

People are moaning about spirit nerfs when they aren’t even the best utility/support skills a ranger has in his arsenal to begin with.

1st weapon set: shortbow
2nd weapon set: main hand weapon + warhorn

Utility skills:
1) Spike Trap
2) Frost Trap
3) Muddy Terrain

Elite:
Spirit of Nature

Healing skill:
Troll Unguent
Healing Spring

In any case, the best support skills in this game are generally not necessarily heals themselves. Or spirits for that matter.
