Sword / dagger ranger
I use sword 2 and greatsword 3 as leap finishers, usually in my own water field for the extra healing. This already feels like enough finishers to keep the melee ranger skill-based without feeling overpowered.
To answer your question: if the sword 1 chain attack had a leap finisher, then the finishers would feel like much less of an accomplishment. The attack chain is pretty fast, so activating an automatic leap finisher every few seconds would give us tons of benefit in whatever field we stand in (ethereal fields would give us tons of chaos armor, water fields would give us tons of healing) without us doing much work.
This is purely speculation on my part, but I think the designers wanted leap finishers to remain attached to cooldowns so that the player would be challenged to use them at the most opportune moment instead of spamming them whenever possible.
isn’t S/D one of our best defensive weapon set ups? 3 evades without having to rely on a dodge roll on a relatively short cool down?
…imho it’s a great weapon setup already, but i prefer the rage boon on horn, and eagles.
sword 2 has a relatively low cool down, when i want to play using my (for fun) pure melee build, having a fire trap or healing springs (for water field) is pretty easy to activate.
ah alright thanks guys. and yeah i playing around with s/d and gs combo using my pet to summon buff giving me 2 healing field fire and ice. seem really cool but with out chain leaping it seem not viable in the long run but i could be wrong it only playing with it for 2 days.
i guess that just come from playing a a thief having a billion leap attacks lol.
