Sword skill #1 and aggro
I’m not following you here … are you complaining that using a melee weapon (sword) is forcing you to be at melee range? You want to keep distance of your target while you use a sword?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Hehe
Not quite.
What I’m saying is that other melee weapons let you stay further from the target. Say 130 range or so, depending on the weapon but sword forces you to hug the mob. Its a small difference and some may notice it in a fight.
However, as the aggro mechanic in Gw2 takes distance into account, it will make the mob attack me if say, everyone else is at 130 range and Im at 50 range (due to my leaps). That means that I take all the hits which is not cool if you run full berserker.
Hope that cleared it up
Edit:
Just for kicks I threw together some tanky build that could work with sword as it pulls aggro onto you

(disclaimer, the build probably sucks)

I am constantly re positioning myself behind the heavies. You have a fraction of a second you can move during each sword cycle. It sounds really small and silly, but it makes a big difference.
I wouldn’t bother with a tank build. You’ll help keep everyone alive a ton better by killing the enemies.

“Sword skill #1 and aggro”
What about me??? I wasn’t even there!!!
You can leap through and cleave all mobs if you turn off autotarget and don’t focus anyone. Confusing to use but that’s probably because I haven’t figured t out yet
Warrior (Leap and spin to win!), Engineer (knock you off the cliff), Guardian (Kittens…)
You don’t really cleave all the mobs, you just go flying about wildly, hitting whatever happens to be closest. Perhaps not ideal in a dungeon run.
Pretty handy for WvW though.
