Guild Wars 2

I’ve decided to give my shelved ranger another try and an interested in some sort of tanky/healing build where my pet my pet does a decent damage and is pretty resilient while I do less damage but can take a few hits from burst classes and survive. I’m thinking about some sort of 0/10/30/0/ 30 or 0/0/30/10/30 using shortbow for range and some sort of sword or greatsword on the swap for when I get jumped by melee. As for armor I have no idea how to gear, some sort of PVT or something with healing or crit? And what runes and sigils would work? For pets I’m thinking fern hound and maybe jaguar.

I tried searching for builds and couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Any help or links to a build would be greatly appreciated. Also keep in mind that I’m not exactly rich so what starter gear should I try this out with. I’m sure Apothocary gear would be nice but I’m not investing a ton of money into this experiment unless I really fall in love with ranger again.

If you want tanky nothing gets better than 0/0/30/10/30.

If you want to go for more of a roamer build then you can swap out spirits for RaO, Sick’em and whatever else you want.

Spirits provide group utility, and are excellent in any sort of party, even untraited.

Keys to remember is your pet will be doing primary damage, your primary duty is to stretch the battle, keep yourself alive through dodging and healing, and keep your pets alive through healing and swapping.

Don’t use spirits. They suck. You’re far better off with Protect Me and Lightning Reflexes if its survivability you want. Add in Muddy Terrain or a trap for some crowd control and you’re set.
