The Howler or Rodgort?
hi,
im not 100% sure which one i want to craft so i have come to the ranger community to get yawls opinion. atm i use sword-wh and gs in dungeons. i would like to go MH sword/axe and wh/torch as my weapon sets. not sure how great that would be in dungeons atm, anyways i was wondering if there were any issues with either of the legendaries?

Well first of all, choose whatever one you think is better.
I’m a little confused, what is wh/torch? Warhorn/torch as a weapon set? I wish
If you want my opinion, I play a power build, so I’d choose warhorn! It has foot steps, a foggy glow, and a cool audio when a skill is used!
Mainhand warhorn would be self-inflicting daze/weakness from the autoatacks making you out of breath.
Anyway, I personally have howler. I’m a necro main, so I made it for that as I really liked the look of the weapon (all the other horn skins SUCK) and I like the fog aura so much. I was thinking of making rodgort next for ranger/mesmer, but mesmer is absolute garbage to play right now, so I think I’m just going to make frostfang next as I use axe on both ranger and necromancer.
All in all its up to you, but howler is a bit priecier at the moment since Howl’s price has gotten so expensive.. while rodgort’s flame is about 100-120 gold. So I’d suggest make both! But I’d pick howler first as you’ll probably get more use out of it outside of spvp condition builds.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
I run a power build in PvX content. I made Rodgrot (because that’s the precursor I found) and was originally going to just sell it but I’ve found it rather useful on my ranger. My guild tends to run ele light and so the fire field is nice to drop for might on resets. I find I have enough fury in PvE (I’d take off hand axe over both in PvE anyways) and good enough fury in WvW and the only other thing I find the war horn useful for is the might. But its only 1 stack if I recall correctly. All in all its probably half dozen of one six of the other. I prefer the fast passive damage skills of the torch over the war horn for the content I run but a solid case could be made for either.
Rodgort was the first legendary i made. But that was at a time when i though running condition builds in dungeons was OK… 2+ years ago.
The smarter thing to do would be to make Howler, but having a charr head on a stick and then it being on fire screams epic.
Currently i have the Frostfang Rodgort combo on my ranger. And i made Kudzu in anticipation of the september patch for the flowery pew pew.
I think it depends a lot on the content you’re likely to do. If you think you’ll be mostly in PvE, I’d get the Howler because you’ll probably be using that more. But if you PvP/WvW a lot, Rodgort will be very useful to you. Personally, I made the Howler first ankitten ow working towards Rodgort (although mostly for my Mesmer, and not Ranger).
If you pug alot → Howler
If you run with 1-2 LH eles always in your group or perma Fury uptime outside your ranger → Rodgort
I crafted Howler first for my necro, then later on bought(only 100g difference between crafting and putting a buy offer for it at the time) Rodgort.
Right now it costs 1500g to craft Rodgort and 1700g buy offer, just decide if 200g is worth your time doing the extra stuff if you ever go with this.
Right now I use axe & torch offhands more than warhorn(only for prestacking might and skipping usually).
There are absolutely no issues with both legendaries unless you want bigger effects or a pony coming out of your warhorn instead of a wolf.
sry for not wording the weapon set right
kitten what a question, Howl! everyone runs a wolf, the horn fits as ist best

the skrittfinisher was my idea!
With all the elementalits in dungeons these days the ranger meta build is axe and torch as offhands, sword mainhand of course.
I went with the horn first, no regrets ^^
