The Longbow Cast Times
why the kitten would they censor 4.5?
One can dream that instead of fixing kitten tooltips all the time, they will actually fix the animation delay.

Okay I deleted the “s”. Apparently if you add s at the end of 4.5, they’ll censor it lol.
Correct me if i’m wrong, but rapid fire dps will be the same as before. Cooldown does not change, so the dps ( damage per second, remember) will be the same since you’ll have to wait more for rapid fire to be off cd. The rapid fire burst and the lb dps as a whole will increase a bit, though.
I think the tooltip shows the pre-cast, but not the after-cast.
- Long Range Shot probably has a 1/4s aftercast
- Rapid Fire either has no aftercast, or an aftercast of 1/2s.
Which would give Rapid Fire a total time of 5s currently, and this total might be what gets reduced to 2.5s.
Yea, this had me questioning how the +10% on RtW will work.
will it be 10% off the 1.0 effective time and thus reduce it to .90 or will it be 10% off the real time of .75, making it .925. Or is it .931. I don’t speak math
Seems like splitting hairs, I know… but it’s still nice to know.

This is what I thought too but another poster pointed out that the cooldown doesn’t start until after the spell finishes. So they are right, effective damage will increase because the effective cooldown for the skill went down due to the channel time being less.
oh yeah, makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

sorry, I meant the dps window excluding cd

But even if this wasn’t true, you would be able to fire a Long Range Shot or two in the 2 extra seconds you won’t be stuck casting Rapid Fire.

In leet-speak
4 = A
5 = S
s = S

Laughing my @ss off
Interesting topic.
All I expect from them is to make LB fire as fast as any other fantasy game makes to be.
Double the speeds as now would be correct.

It isn’t just the longbow, almost every skill in the game has some sort of aftercast.
BUT, regarding rapid fire, if anyone would like to take the time to go back and watch the video and try to get the exact screen of the Rapid Fire tooltip that get’s shown briefly, I recall (could be wrong, but I’d put a bit of money on it being right, so I’m that confident) the tooltip reading 2.25s for Rapid Fire, which would be indicative that BOTH the cast time and the aftercast of the current skill get halved to the point the patch is supposed to take them to.
Since that aftercast values are visible to the devs, I’m sure that they factor the aftercast into the full completion of the skill when having discussions, which is where you would see the discrepancy.

rapid fire damage will be the same, rapid fire damage per second will be doubled.
Example Rapid fire damage = 10k (just for example)
Rapid fire as is now is 10k / 5 seconds = 2000 damage per second
rapid fire post patch is 10k / 2.5 = 4000 damage per second
so, it’s being doubled. Therefore same damage over shorter time equals increase in damage per second.

I wasn’t sure if Karl’s demonstration of the new Rapid Fire had RTW or not so I didn’t bother. Also, I should mention the 4.5 was timed from the start of the animation to the beginning of when the last shot damage appears, so maybe the aftercast was not counted afterall (not sure now).
