..is that no one ever runs away from you! Anyone else notice this? I was roaming on my thief and it seems like half the people I run into don’t wanna fight and just run away but on my ranger, everyones game!

Yes, it’s absolutely true. When I play my mesmer people will go out of their way to avoid fighting me 1v1.

Similarily in a group of players you will be targeted by everyone and first, hell if they have 10 players at 1% health when you arrive they will still all go for you.

This is so annoying…

Sometimes I’m in a party with 2 or 3 other people and the enemy group focus me even if I’m not the biggest threat.

What Manekk said is exaggerated but true.

I followed around an enemy guild zerg in wvw and got very close to them… They didn’t think me, a ranger, was worthy enough to be killed by them. I was in shortbow range and they didn’t give a kitten about me.

This is actually fairly true

I’ve actually come along 2v1’s where my side is fighting 1 dude, I’m not interfering at all, Just watching.. and the 1 guy will run over and start trying to kill me, and I won’t even attack him…I’ll just evade ect ect… and he’ll keep going for me till he dies.

I play mesmer now too but people dont tend to run away from me there either.. maybe its because I am only WvW rank 15 or something. I know WvW rank doesnt really show skill in any way, but it does at least show experience to some degree and people do naturally expect more from a Silver Champion than a regular Assulter which is what my mesmer is.

Yeah I don’t get why some people think just because my rank is low or really high then that shows how good I am. Lol no it just shows which character I played longer

As for nobody wanting to fight you on the thief it should be obvious why really, I guarantee every single player in gw2 fought off a thief with their entire being focused and tense trying to accurately dodge and evade backstabs sweat pouring from their brows and dripping down to form a puddle on the livingroom floor, against all odds get him to 0,1% health a hundred times… then he runs away in stealth…

people love killing rangers because they are the trolls of GW2. not sure if anyone remembers Retaliation paladins or hunters from WoW, they were KOS for most people just like rangers are. there are several reasons for this attitude toward rangers:

- by far attract the worst players in the game
- hard countered by immobilize and virtually no reliable condi cleanse
- people cant stand rangers pew pew’ing with bows from 1200, it kittenes everyone off
- pets lack AI, which feeds into the “rere” image
- petting zoo is seen as zero skill cap, monitor crowding spec

how we can change this attitude:

- keep petitioning devs to buff the profession in WvW, keep asking for pet mechanic revamp, keep asking for trait cleanup.
- run solid builds and pets to contribute something useful, like canines, high survivability immobs, or condi regen in small scale; use healing spring appropriately and ask people to blast it.

I’ve pulled off a lot of silly 2v4 or 2v5 situations because people would rather target a Ranger with a million evades, stealth, and crazy health regen instead of a glass cannon elementalist who just bursts everyone down.

In 1vX on my power mesmer most rangers are less of a threat than vet guards. That being said on the rare occasion i will run into one that will be able to hold a great 1v1. I kind of feel like intermediate skilled rangers don’t exist. Btw i love all of you who understand your proffs shortcomings and rise above them you guys inspired me to make my next solo roamer a ranger (especially that chill one from [RUN]).

best part is if you imagine the face of the mesmer, thief or warrior player behind the screen you just killed like: wtf just happened?!

sad part is: they wont come again expect they are in superior numbers next time.

Amen! I guess that’s the only thing a ranger does better than other classes.

I’m using a bunker build and while running with a group of 4 people, the enemies tends to go for me even tho I have maxed out my mobility and my team mates would be prolly easier to take down. But no, must chase that bouncing ranger thing while my team mates goes pew pew!
