I have i idea about the one hand sword and his number one, make us leap only if we have someone in target like the gardien with his teleport. So trying hitting someone in stealth will be easier and behave less then jumping like a moron…
Thank you

but… Skilled players actually use the chain attacks to disengage…

But skilled player use hornet sting/monarch leap to disengage. I auto correct you. You are welcome.
The chain attack is for chase your target and cripple him.
hit enemy twice. drop target. Hit 1 twice in quick succession. You are now already 600 range from your opponent.
turn and use hornet sting, turn and use monarch leap. There you go.
HS/ML is enough to get out of combat. Sword need more stability in the control, at the moment you chase a stealth one, you cant attack in place to get a hit.

I’ve never had too much problem with the sword but as i was reading this i got a sense of wonder: “how about that!” Ty for the tip, i’ll give it a whirl.

Try that in combat with a target near dead and go stealth, best rage ever…
Wtb the old sword kick. No leap or cripple, mini knock back. Honestly I’ll take the current kick without the leap. It attacks fast enough that 1 leap out of 3 hits is sufficiently sticky. Especially against a crippled target.
It would be nice if something else substituted for the leap when your target is already in range.
There’s no reason for the leap attack, when the target is standing right there – so how about swapping a different attack when the target is in range of your weapon already?
I hope they don’t change it, ranger’s sword is my favorite weapon skillset in the game because of the auto attack.

That’s reasonable, it bugs me too in close range. Worth it for the mobility, though.

I believe my the alternative to follow.
I hate the sword, It’s so frustrating to use it because of the silly auto attack…
It takes time to learn to master the sword. It is one of our strongest weapons. Most of the rangers that have mastered this weapon don’t feel the despair that a lot rangers feel with the class.
Ranger and pet fight more as one unit in melee combat.

but…. try hitting a stealth target…
Unselect auto targeting.
i’ve leveled 2 rangers to 80 with sword in main hand, only real problem i had with it was that the autoattack made me fall off a cliff once or twice due to positioning
Anyone have videos of skilled sword use? Would love to see how it’s done.
How about they just add three new sword skills that the people who don’t like the current setup can alternatively use.
early on removing your the auto attack help but it hampers your damage. Later once you get use to it you can add the add attack again.

And in fact you don’t even have to have the enemy targetted to hit them in the first place. Your attack is 180 ahead. So you can drop target first if your position is right.
For the person asking for a video, this covers it in some detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbNuv4T8J1I
