The unlogical logic behind balancing Ranger
Next on the balancing drawing board: nerf ranger condition damage to make powerbuilds more appealing…
Mate, ranger power builds are extremely underrated. I mean they really are. If you want, I can post a few specs for you to try out.
Edit: DanSH.6143,
I can only post once every hour and a half due to a prior forum ban, but come 1v1 me if you really think power rangers are that bad. My IGN is Elite Rouge (I know rouge is spelt wrong). I’ll probably be online around 4 p.m tomorrow.
Play any class or spec you want, except P/D thief. I will just flip kitten if I see a P/D thief.

No they’re not.
Considering 1v1: try fighting any thief, any warrior, any ele except staff user, any necro, any dps guard.
Considering group play: You don’t do enough dmg to justify the lack of sustain. Taking a warrior or a guardian instead would be much better for you and your whole team.
Considering hotjoin: everything can work in hotjoin.

boar pet
“-You can’t deal the same amount of damage with your weapons like the other classes do because the pet also deals damage.”
Yeah, I can imagine them saying that. Well then there is an easy solution, ANet: give me an option to trade pets for more damage. And I’m going for the damage, and namely straight raw damage over crits, conditions, whatever, every time. I want to be a viable (ranged) dps, and if possible, with a good group support.
“-You can’t deal the same amount of damage with your weapons like the other classes do because the pet also deals damage.”
Pets don’t share in the stat boost granted by foods, buffs and ascended gear. Inevitably the ranger will loose in that race.

But this is only the beginning – since the pet often has a problem to get to the target and hit it. And if it manages, it dies almost instantly. Now I’m talking anything stronger than common trash mobs. The pet for example will not evade or even move away to escape telegraphed danger – and any real animal is way better at that than humans.
I’m not an AI expert but I assume that making a good combat AI is far from easy and guys who know how to program such stuff are not working for computer games companies but for military. So the best and easiest solution is to buff the player controlled character and leave computer controlled character as something nice to have but not important.
Apparently it wasn’t so hard to make the hero-ai good enough to ban them from PvP in GW1.

Pets in gw1 were cannon fodder, in pvp they were used for the mystical iWay, thumper builds and some rare beast master (beast master builds were mostly used in low pvp like Random Arena)
I wish ranger could use hammer so we could bring back the RaO Thumper, HaO Thumper and other cool stuff back into gw2

Heh, The Revenge of the Bunny Thumpers.
pets are far from useless my lynx the other day didn’t just down a Mesmer but killed the Mesmer before i had a chance to use a finisher because i was busy killing a thief and at lest a few times a day in pvp people will run away because my pet is killing them and my pet doesn’t die fast at all most rangers just don’t spec for pets i have Faux Sheaux’s Roaming Regen Ranger (RRR) Build 0/0/30/10/30 some rangers just don’t use the right pets at right time or just blow off BM all together watch this should cheer you up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs7jbFqRCTA

You kinda missed the point, in sPvP i use a Rabbid build and i own ppl
Rangers condition builds work great! The problem is that its the only viable builds for Ranger atm, anything going Power Ranger will fail
In sPvP i run a 10/30/30/0/0 build and i know it feels great but i don’t run it because i love it, i run it because its the only way to play ranger… condibunker
S/t a/d is pretty fun with full apothecary gear. I prefer 0/0/30/20/20 over the heavier BM build though, just preference.
