Thinking of getting GW1 to unlock pets...

good luck , to get the black widow , you would have to get the black widow in the underworld in gw1. Not worth it because nobody plays gw1 like that no more. You may stilll be able to but then again I played the original at launch so I ended up unlocking a lot of that when gw2 launched. Not worth it now if you ask me.
Last time I checked they still had the HoM rewards locked because of some bug that was letting everyone get the rewards. When I get home I’ll check to see if the HoM is back up.
Not sure how long it would take you to get the actual points (I played the game for years) but it takes less than a day to get a character to max level and geared out.
Just checked, they still haven’t brought back the HoM pets…. This has been months now so don’t hold your breath on getting those pets anytime soon.
Plenty of people play GW1 still. Get on facebook and look up the group Guild Wars: A New Hope. If you join them, there is over 1000 people there who still play actively.
It’s doable, but only do it if you enjoy playing GW1 as it’ll take you time, and you will get bored well before unlocking the petsif the game’s not your thing. It took me a month and a half with a little headstart in points, game experience and a leveled up alt:

You misread the HoM rewards though. You’ll unlock the Black Moa at 15 HoM points, the Rainbow Jellyfish at 20, the White Raven at 25 and the Black Widow at 30. So if it’s the Black Widow you’re after, it’ll take you a while (getting 10-12 is really really easy, then points are progressively slower to gain requiring a lot more content or gold).
Also:

This is incorrect. To get the Black Widow pet in GW1 you need to go in the Underworld, yes. You can then dedicate it in the HoM, which you need for an extra HoM point if you want to max up the Fellowship Monument (provided you also have the Phoenix and the Black Moa to dedicate). But there’s 50 points up for grabs in the HoM and you only need 30 to unlock the Black Widow in GW2. So it’s not required to unlock it in GW1 and you can grab that HoM point elsewhere. That said, it’s an easy point to get. I soloed it with heroes.
And yes, the HoM is currently disabled, so you can’t get the rewards (the achievements and titles still unlock though). But that doesn’t really matter since you wouldn’t unlock the pets before a couple months at least.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Alright thanks for the replies guys. Guess ill scrap those plans and stick with the pet skins we already have. One can only hope Anet adds more pet skins (with similiar popular f2 abilities)
