have you gone to southsun cove and encountered the karka, if so you are acquainted with their barrage attack that will take you from 100-0 in 4 seconds (well, maybe just me). however now with the ability to move while blocking, we are able to safely close the gap or interrupt the barrage with our counter, and we are able to toggle the spell on when running through a large mob of karka and dodge all of their ranged attacks.

i appreciate the greatsword more than i ever had before.

How is a ranger able to wield a gigantic, humongous (8 ft long) sword? I mean really. I just don’t get you Anet. I really don’t.

But imagine the weight on that thing. Seriously.
Unless there’s some sort of ‘magic’ involved when wielding that greatsword, which is TOTALLY understandable… lol’d.

Besides, this profession never mentioned anything about using magic to wield heavy weapons.

It’s because deep within, rangers are super-powered since, you know, rangers have learned to tame the beast(drumroll please).

Considering how many hits it takes to kill someone (with all classes, not just rangers), and the way everyone swings their weapons, I think its safe to say all weapons in the Guild Wars universe are made of hollowed out plastic.

well, looking at it that way, there really is no class that should be able to wield one of these things (except asura of course, their strength scales with an inverse scale from height to the weight you are able to carry, similar to how a human can at most lift 3 times their weght, while an ant can lift 10 times their weight, with the height of the asura being the ideal ratio of size to strength, but i suppose that is besides the point). it could be that we channel animal spirits when using our melee weapons, maul makes a bear appear and swoop makes a bird appear, so that isn’t unreasonable. also if warriors can wield these things without any source or magic, we rangers should be able to too.

How heavy are these swords really? Some of the plainer 2h swords look like actual historical 2h swords (which weighed about 7 pounds), while some of them would make clouds buster sword kill itself.

We swing them all the same speed, with no lower back problems. Could it be that the guild wars world is just the matrix, and everyone in it is just being controlled by some outer power they can’t comprehend? Are all of these swords just graphical representations of the idea of doing damage, with different magical appearances endowed on them by said outer power for visual purposes only?

Nah, magic.

Just use magic as an excuse. People tend to accept that fact since it makes so much more sense than purely lifting a heavy-weight object, whilst also swinging it.

The heavier the object, the harder to swing. Amiright?

/trollface.
