I know the changes are old news but I haven’t played ranger a while. Did a bunch of duels with 30/30/10 LB/GS full glass. Though I was gonna have a bad time, but actually had a blast! Amazing what one stealth skill can do! Barrage is now usable 1v1 (stealth isn’t broken until damage occurs) and also sweet ninja combos can now be used! (stealth-swap-GS combo)

suggestions:
reduce sig of stone cd to 60 (like endure pain) and make it a stun breaker (like endure pain)
active condi removal: rework signet of renewal or reduce its cd. Healing spring helps ALOT but isn’t enough for longer fights.
slighty reduce cooldown of sig of hunt and the wild. Right now what zerker ranger’s need is a more reliable burst roation. I’m not asking for a massive cd reduction on hunt and wild, just something more reasonnable. sig of hunt – maul is strong, but it’s no eviserate!

i use lb/sb on my glassy ranger and it’s doing a really good job killing thieves, guardians, and engi’s 1v1. qz is strong if you use with crossfire.

I just started trying zerk again yesterday too and you are totally right. While the damage is almost on par the survivability is not, namely with a lack of toughness and a lack of condition removal.

If you won duels as a 30/30/10 full berserker ranger you were playing against crap players.

30/20/20 with a good mix of berserker and knights/soldiers can do…something… Provided you outplay your opponent…

30/30/10 full berserker is only for zerg play kitten ing around from 1.5k range.

i’m using 30 30 0 10 0 traits. berserker ammy, double bow, runes of the ranger and sigil of superior battle. i also used signet of the hunt and stone and quickening zephyr. pets i used were stalker and lynx. ive won duels vs engineers, guardians and thieves but i’m not sure if they were really good because i just found them at pvp duel arenas.

Then 95% of my oponents in WvW while roaming are terribad players.

Seems legit!

This was in pvp. and once I feel more comfortable with the build I’m probably gonna go semi glassy in wvw. The signet build needs high pressure. Once you’ve popped sos, it doesn’t matter how much toughness you have, you better hope you oponent is downed.

as for 30/20/20, without clarity, GS combo seems kinda meh.

I still haven’t fought a skilled mesmer tho, can someone tell me how it fairs? I was thinking longbow 3 stealth for safetly setting up a barrage would be amazing for clearing clones/illusions.

in pvp, i dont think a power ranger has a chance against a mesmer and if its PU mesmer just dont hope. each clone you kill deals condition damage on you and a power ranger really has no condition removal (you just cannot use healing spring when you’re running this buid. its too risky). there’s no room for mistake and most of the times the real mesmer is on stealth and all you’ll be fighting are the clones.

in PvP power rangers are on the lowest tier. You should not win any 1v1 using a power ranger, ANY.

But its not Rangers fault, its not that we need buff, its games fault..
A Power Ranger imo is totally balanced, high + with high – …

In most games this is the way it works..A ranged ad in LoL will drop in sec if targeted and its totally ok..

But you have Warriors that have immunities, healing signet that can be tanky and dmging
You have Thieves that have to many gap closers
Etc Etc

In GW2 ive learned that doing dmg is not that important, what is important is being able to cap, decap and hold points..

So thats why power Rangers fail sadly..

Power builds will always be subpar as long as 20-40% of your total dps do not scale with your ranger’s stat.

Wrong. 30/30/… is considered the better spec by many because you are just too vulnerable anyways to outsustain anything. Swapping 10 more points does nothing, actually moment of clarity gives way more damage AND damage negation by increased cc time than those 10 points in any other tree.

You just have to play extremely cautious and engage/disengage a lot. And the disengage is quite good with stealth shot into swoop or just gs block into swoop even if it is not thief level.

That is a really good point and I couldn’t agree more. I hope someone from anet realises that.

30/30/anything is so terribad I can’t describe. If you want to be zergling and look at those “amazing” 1-2k critical hits (lul) whwn prqying for not getting focused by any1, good luck, tho every.build works in there.
If you try to make any working build atm, start from 2600 armor and Empathic Bond. Then you can start to direct your build.
If you seriously think you’re any danger, you’re wrong. Any decent, not braindead Thief will counter your Rapid Fire stealthing tactic by just going on your side/behind you. That breaks the entire skill (lul again).
You have to play flawlessly and really know how to manage your pet, weapon to get any short advantage from your 1800 range. And still, you rely on RNG and bad skill of opponent.

Meanwhile, I’ll just chill there with my Blastmancer, critting you constantly for over 6k every second and still maintain very good surv…

Unless something changes, I don’t really plan to go back to my Ranger outside of tpvp. It’s too much stress, too much work, RNG, rage when your skills break without reason or don’t work at all, too less disengage, and error 404 – no damage found.
