They will be nerfed, the only thing the ArenaNet devs know how to do is nerf rangers not fix them. 3 years and counting yet this is still happening:

I am sorry as a DPS ranger I do not support this play style at all. For the good of the game the smokescale needs a nerf. Like you say however I do not want to see it nerfed into the ground. The problem is that the smokescale not only has a smoke field (which is absolutely amazing) but it is doing the damage that other pets do fully buffed unbuffed. Unbuffed the smokescale really should only be hitting for about 5k not 9-12K.

I disagree, they should buff the other pets damage. The dumb things rarely land any hits unless you set it up by cc’ing your opponent, and it’s a friggin chore to keep them alive. The higher pet damage should be our reward for all the micro managing involved with having a pet and such a bad system for controlling them.

ya it is ok to get some nerf since its a default stat for bwe to have 50k hp and high dps but we cannot let this helpful creature get burned. for all those defensive buffs out there and most class can reflect projectile and good sustain, we need the help of these beasts to survive.
Smokescale will most likely get a nerf because currently his skill do insane damage.
I was shocked how good the dps of this tanky thing. Definitely better than Druid lol..
Btw, it’s videos like this that tend to destroy ranger. So I suggest not to link too much of this in the forum.

In WvW, pets have a lowered health pool compared to PvE and die almost instantly. The best we can hope for here is maybe getting off an initial burst of DPS before it dies.
In PvP, I can’t commend because I didn’t test it in this game mode but I’m sure ANet will normalize the damage.
Additional Though: I would only support a Skale dps nerf for WvW if they give pets the PvE health pool.

You can’t test it because you can’t even use it in PVP.
@Puck: I would LOVE to see the other pets get damage increases because your right if someone is running around they don’t hit. I totally think that my pet should be something that whoever I am fight needs to be wary of. People shouldent be able to just ignore what your pets doing and then kill it with unintentional cleave. With that being said with the unrelenting assault mechanic being as powerful as it is smokescale still needs a nerf. I would however love to see all the other pets get a strong buff.
I think the smokescale is fine (maybe a slight 5-10% nerf but no more than that) . The guy in the video used 2 skills( sic them – +40% dmg and SOW – +25 dmg) in order to get to that amount of dmg. Also, the guardian had plenty of time to dodge/block ect to avoid some of this dmg.

ya. I am fine with the damage being toned down up to 15% for the smokescale but never under that, since it is our first ever actual DPS pet. this pet and bristle back can help the druids allot and Rangers in general in all type of game play. I made this thread because I want them to hear our voice and not destroy our last hope for a fun experience. just look at all our current pets and you all know how bad they are and not really that dependable in game.
Lol the Guard stood in its Attack range :p warhorn 4 soaked up the Aegis and blocks he used his block way too early vs a weak distraction .
ya we could not even need a nurf , this needs to be tested vs competent players that know what they are fighting and vs a glass target like that i’d say its about right but the 5-10% damage downgrade won#t hurt it.
i wonder how much it does vs a Cele D/D ele or a Tanky Rampage warroir not the really common Glass Roamers.
