Took a 6 month break. Changes to Rangers?
a few nice changes but nothing significant at all. rangers are bottom of the barrel in WvW, about the same in PVE (pretty good), and very good in tpvp with a few viable builds (traps and bunker).
Thanks for the quick reply! What’s the traps and bunker build?
I dont know the meta builds but I assume a trap build uses all traps except the freeze one and has something like 0/30/30/0/10 (???) where they have max condition damage and throwable traps. I also assume bunker uses a ton of toughness and healing power and uses s/? and GS for the leaps with the water field heal.

The Greatsword now lets you move around while you block, and will block any and all ranged projectiles until you block a hit in melee range.

rangers bring a lot to the table in WvW. They have lot’s of beneficial abilities such as these:
Healing Spring: Sets a water combo field down for you and all allies while also healing you, curing conditions and granting regeneration.
Muddy Terrain: Massive AoE Immobilize and cripple.
Barrage: Massive AoE cripple and damage.
Frost trap: AoE chill.
Spike Trap: AoE Cripple and damage.
Entangle: Massive AoE immobilize and damage.
Rapid Fire: Kills thieves.
Hunter’s Call: Kills thieves and makes you laugh cuz of birds attacking thieves.
Call of the Wild: Buffs your allies with Might, Fury and Swiftness.
Long bow shoots much farther than 1200 range when you are above your target.
Two Pets, pick two pets that give buffs you think your WvW team could benefit from. Put them on passive and use the buff, then swap pets and use it’s buff. When you swap pets the cool downs get reset so you can cast the buff again right when you swap out. It will be showing that it’s on CD but use it anyway and see for yourself.
Use axe with warhorn and longbow for WvW. It’s a team game and rangers are huge contributors.
[…] the vast majority of runs involved corpse running to kill bosses. […]
Fixed: You can no longer use waypoints while a member of your party is in combat.
“War does not determine who is right – only who is left.”
arrow projectile speed got increased to give a slightly better chance hitting moving targets at longer distances.
entangle – bleeding ticks from the roots finally scales with the players condition damage (huge buff).
underwater combat greatly buffed 150% more dmg on harpoon #1? i think it was, and also some spear buffs.
signet of the hunt now gives 25% movement speed passive instead of 10%, some other classes got the same however.
shortbow attack speed nerf / “fix” how they call it.
anet claims to be working / having worked on pet ai and pathing and some bugs with f1-f4 skills, but theres no real proof or significant change in it, if at all. (pet rez in downed state still bugged as kitten)
GS #2 dmg increased quiet a bit and, as already posted by someone, #4 can be used while moving now
spirits +25% more hp
other noteworthy changes have already been posted, and “endgame” if you call it that way and if you already have your exo sets and skins, is now purely about farming fractals and since the latest patch also daily achievements to get ascended gear. (or of course grinding for a legendary)
The basic game content declared as “exploration”. “Fast leveling and gearing” here do not make sense. This game, in its entirety, is a coherent picture. There is no “end game” and will never be. You should not apply bored MMO standards to this game
I don’t mean to stray off topic here, but I really don’t understand how people can say there’s no end-game in GW2. World vs World is one big end game. Legendaries are end-game. sPvP you can do… forever really. I know fractals can be repetitive, but they’re a practically limitless challenge, and it’s an easy format for Anet to update with new maps. I’m level 80 decked out with full exotics, but I feel far from mastering all the aspects of this game, and all of its challenges. In fact, I feel like my first 79 levels were just an intro to the real guildwars2, which for me started at level 80.

I agree but obviously alot of people mean content only avalible to maxed level toons reaching a certain level of gear aka raids.
6 Months?
The game was released on Aug 28th.. Barley making the game available for 6 months. How did you play and still take a 6 month break lol?
I guess he took 6 month break after installing it.
I’ll change that to 4 months then. TIME FLIES GUYS GIVE ME A BREAK
Ummm….the game has been out 6 months….It’s not a break if you never played in the first place lol

Lol? What server you are playing? Seems like you all are easy frags - wanna play against your server ^^
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
Well, traits are still a mess, spirits still die too fast, the pets F2 skill still reacts too slow, AoE damage is still a problem with the pet, and our damage output on most weapons is still on the low side.
On the positive side; the pet got a reaction fix which means it’s now better at tracking foes, and deals more consistent damage. Rangers found out some time ago that it’s possible to use “Guard” as a means to make the pet attack on top of walls in WvW, or go places where players can’t go. Rangers are currently overpowered in underwater combat, because of Lick Wounds.
That’s about it.
End game is the same; there is none beyond what you can already play from level 2-80. They have added Fractals, which is a lot of fun, and we are now in the middle of some new content that ArenaNet says will bring some big changes.
