ravens prolly have the most burst. cats and other birds (owls, eagles) have real good sustain mixed with some condition damage

Jaguars and Ravens are the two top dps pets for single target. I want to say that jaguars edge out ahead a bit, but I don’t remember for sure. Either way, they are the go-to pets for high dps and burst.

Jaguars top feline pets because of the extra damage they deal while stealthed and Ravens top bird dps due to the big damage they bring from their F2.

Ravens have more vitality and also blind on stealth, which often puts them as top dps pet in my eyes.

Ravens have the most burst, Ive gotten 16k crits with my ravens f2 in pvp. Jaguar does less overall numbers and burst but stealths and hits just as hard in its own right. After a ravens f2 its inferior to a jag, atleast during a f2 stealth.

Against? A player? The running heavy golem? Monsters? Static golems? In every case different pets are the fastest killer (highest dps). Snow leopard kills the running heavy golem in the mists faster than any other pet. However, an 8s chill isn’t very reliable against players (high chance of being cured). Raven kills the running heavy golem the slowest out of any bird.

Eh, I’d have to test it, but I’m pretty sure a canine would be better for a moving opponent since they have a fast attack animation, a cripple, and a knockdown. They may do less direct dps, but they would likely have more uptime, even against a snow leopard.

Also, I’m skeptical about believing that there’s something about a raven that would put it behind other birds (except Owl of course since it has a chill F2). They don’t have any difference from other birds except for their F2 and there’s nothing about a hawk/eagle’s F2 that gives them more dps against a running target.

I’ve found the Jaguar to be the best overall for damage. The raven can burst more but use QZ right after activating the Stalk skill and the Jag can put out a serious amount of damage while also causing 1% vulnerability per hit.

The only real problem I have ever had with the Jag is that the cats seem to either have the lowest armor or health of almost all the pets and die very, very quickly so it’s not the one you want to send after an enemy retreating into their zerg as it will get about 5 feet before throwing in the towel.

Raven also has more health, dont forget that fact.

I find the lynx to have the overall quickest dps against moving target.

Dang! Someone please tell me how to do this, I cant get my birds to hit even 3k lol. Is this multiple skills buffing the hit or what? Can anyone tell me? In WvW my jungle stalker was able to hit 3.9k but thats the limit I’ve seen. I think I used an enlarged jaguar to hit 5k once but I’m not sure.

I’m running with the Lynx for the F2 bleed and good damage. Birds are good, too and also have more health than cats, but have the same damage and precision.

Well if you just take pets and have them kill the test golems the cats out dps the rest. This is without using F2 skills though. With the build i was using, it took them around 15secs to kill the golem. Canines were around 25 , lizards around 30, and birds around 35. The flying birds are not good dps pets imo, they have a very slow attack speed.

Once you add in the F2 skills lizard would probably pass canine in dps since most of them have dps skills (though they can be hard to hit with). Canines have support and control abilities.

I prefer canines and spiders for their control abilities for WvW but for all out dps I would say definitely cats.

cats have most sustained dps, and jag has some of the highest burst with stealth. overall, jag does the most dps.

ravens have the most burst, but overall significantly lower sustained dps than cats.

Birds would have been the overall best damage pet but their attack animations take too long to go off and a fast pace environment like WvW where everyone is moving it’s not ideal to have pets that have delay attacks, that’s why the devs need to get rid of the cast time on the f2s. So from my experience it’s Lynx>Jag>Birds.

During my time as a beastmaster i’ve come to love the jaguar as the highest DPS pet.

stealth gives guaranteed crits right?

then add the 30% crit dmg boost from the skirmishing trait
and 50% from hilt bash/or interruption after traiting 30 into moment of clarity/or signet of the hunt(don’t stack)
add 30% dmg from Sic em
add 25% dmg from Signet of the WIld if you want more damage
add the stat increases to power and precision from 25 stacks of masters bond
add the usually 16 stacks of vulneralbility from hunters shot and first strike, and then after pet hits another 5(plus a little more if it chooses to use its vulnerability attack)

getting the timing right with these, i think is the most burst a ranger can get (not the most sustained burst, i know theres better builds with buffs and food and stuff). If you do alll that stuff, and stealth your jaguar, it’s a little over 150% damage boost on top of the critical they’re guaranteed to have, with raised damage stats from Masters Bond that i don’t know how to account for

In PvP, it’s probably from hitting a lowbie in WvW, which is where most of the outrageous numbers come from in damage.

Realistically, you will need a very specific type of build with a lot of things lined up to get a number like that in PvE. I’ve run a 1h sword build that focuses on stacking might on the pet through Fortifying Bond. With 25 stacks of might on my bird and Sick ‘Em, I can frequently hit for 10k (the f2 does two 5k hits at once) on crit. If I used a greatsword along with Sig of the Wild, I could use the hilt bash damage buff to beef that up, I’m sure, but stacking that much just to hit a high number on a pet F2 really doesn’t make for a good build because of everything you have to sacrifice to pull it off.

Its said that the salamander has the highest damage AOE.

Never tested it myself.
