Trait "Hide in plain sight" needs rework
Or just completely rework how camouflage works. The ranger and “Ash Legion Spy Kit” are the only ones that use camouflage.
“Camouflage” – Enemies can’t target you while camouflaged. Half-stealthed.
Half-stealthed: Enemies see you as you see a friendly stealthed player.
The trait should just give you stealth upon being disabled. Or better yet, how about it entangles your foe for a few seconds?
I don’t like how camouflage is removed once you move. What’s the point of standing still after a stun? The enemy will know you’re nearby and can probably hit you again.
The trait is simply bad, what about :
Swap position with pet, also applies camouflage 3s.
Before release it was either an ability or a trait I forget which but you could activate it and you perma stealth as long as you were standing still, which would have been perfect for ambushes. I wish they had left it like that.
Eladan of Greenwood: 80 Ranger
Elemir Swiftblade: 80 Thief
This is a " bad but we dont have the time to fix it " trait..
If it gave you regular stealth it wouldnt be gamebreaking..
I remember companions might as it was.. 1 sec 1 stack of might..
Truly laughable. Its like this trait didnt even exist..
So they buffed it and still noone use it.
My point is that they can fix some traits in one patch and there wont be any difference. Some traits are ridiculsly underpowered for a 2 years game..
Recently they released a minor balance patch and i saw some dev comments telling ppl that maybe they need to change their builds cause of the balance patch..
They are so ignorant of their own game.. They think that if they change traits like this they will bring chaos..
Laughable

Yup. Just take a look at the patched in new trait for Guardians – Radiant Retaliation
My guess is that every class has one or two that make you wonder what they are thinking.
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
It has flaws… But also very rewarding uses.
For example – if you pair it with Shared Anguish – and someone tried to interrupt your finisher > not only you’ll push the CC onto the pet – but you’ll also become invisible for the time you are finishing your target.
This mechanic won pretty serious teamfights for me countless times.
It also helped me survive, because even if it lasts for 1 second only if you were knocked or feared – it also detargets you – giving you some precious time and window for errors to your enemy.
3 seconds of stealth with same no-stealth cool down as a thief. Fixed
Just had an idea. What if camouflage reduced incoming damage by say 50% while it was active?
So, you get stunned, your camouflaged, warrior knows your camouflaged so he queues his 100b burst, but now you take half damage instead of simply eating it while invisible?

Sounds fine by me.
…
If not too powerful.

This. The degree of apathy around fixing 2yo bugs and balancing weak skills/traits is pretty astonishing. It’s like they don’t give a kitten about anything but BLTC garbage.

Yes I also used to paired them but the investment is huge, too much for something this random.
From what I see, Anet will fix that in the next patch. They ARE reading guys, and updating the wiki is maybe actually worth it !
Thanks Anet !
this had been around for ages using plain sight and anguish these trait havn’t change much since like a 1 year and half ago nearly .
the combined use for stomping i’d say is fine , it takes to apply stealth then the game removes the stealth (from the plain sight trait because you are moving aka finishing) so all it does is detarget yourself from any single target CC , for the cost of two traits one on 90secs and the other on 30secs the traits are a life saver.
I do like the idea of -50% while camo is active its a nice Qol change , and again not a power creep , though it does make the wilderness line again with more tanky traits.
if they combined the two traits to :
Shared anguish 50secs cooldown
Diverts one Stun , knockdown , knockback , push , Daze to the pet
when one of these is transfered to pet you gain cammo for 4secs (just remember unlike stealth the cammo does not effect traits or skills so it does not work with remorsless)
Or second seperate suggestion.
so first Cammo needs to change to get it to cross over to work with Remoreless that way you could use huntershot + cammo to power Remoreless.
This is the current cammo:
Camouflage is an effect that, similar to stealth, makes your character invisible. The effect functions the same as stealth, but is removed by movement. Also, as this is another type of effect than stealth, it does not trigger any traits or skills related to stealth. Unlike other effects, it has no accompanying icon above the skill bar.
Suggest to change to
Camouflage Is a effect that Stealths the user but acts slightly diferrent to stealth , when the target stealths , revealed is not applied but movement speed boons breaks the camouflage.
this way the trait can move slowly reapply the remorsless trait and since it does not apply revealed you can chain after with huntershot(though after huntershot Revealed will apply preventing further stealths)then again reapply remoreless .
in a way you become a Jaguar slowly moving around your foe Remorelessly waiting for the right time to strike.
the reason why i put movement speed boons breaks the comouflarge ,
1. with super speed on trapper runes it will allow combined extended stealth durations of 6secs , allowing you to break combat extremely quick , so the super speed on this rune will break the camouflarge.
2. being able to move while stealthed at high speed is not what rangers should be doing , that is a thiefs role/job/mechanic.
so by limiting the ranger to movement speeds giving by signet of the hunt means he will have to stalk his target after he gets CC’ed by transfering the CC to the pet using shared anguish.

Consider it fixed? As of next patch looks like it will grant Stealth instead of Camouflage.
If someone can translate cleaner than google knock yourself out.
“This feature is now applied to the generic version of stealth, but when you move will not lead to overt Ranger .”

The whole mechanic is a holdover from when from a disign point giving Ranger stealth was viewed as making the profession too much like thief and in classic Anet design fashion they give the ranger a similar, but poorly implemented version.
After they placed stealth on longbow they should have thrown the camouflage mechanic out the window and just reworked it as stealth.
I think this upcoming buff is excellent and will be very strong for wilderness survival builds. finally we’re gonna have 2 stealths. I also feel druid would be very strong with that trait line, if it remains available.
After they placed stealth on longbow they should have thrown the camouflage mechanic out the window and just reworked it as stealth.
And why they didn’t follow this logic from the start the world may never know.

It was different at the beginning of the game because people didn’t really know the trait and how stealth (camouflage in this case) worked. They tended to stop attacking when you became invisible, and that made the trait effective.
But as time went on, people understood that you should still try and cleave stealthed players and that the rangers trait meant he would lose camo should he move, so if his position didn’t change you could AoE and cleave right where you left off.
