It honestly should replace Dagger if you’re Traps
I personally will be using Axe/Horn with Sword/Torch on my setup, but I highly suggest you plop Sigil of Earth on your Axe/horn Set, with Sharpened Edges your Horn hits 16 times, that can actually be a pretty nasty bleed.
You also get more Crit from the Fury, Speed, Might and a Blast Finisher for multiple combo’s
Not even stopping there, think about apothecary builds with torch and warhorn on swap. Hey! How about some AoE frost armor after my frost trap pops? >:)
Yeap, both gear sets get some nice bonus’s for it, its a Trap Offhand Weapon for sure

Short video showing how powerful the new horn is in terms of doing bleeds
Interesting. I’ll try this, but I suspect I’d miss my dagger evade too much.
Was zerging around with it
getting 25 Stacks of Might very quickly in Zerg Fights using Drakes and Horn is funny, Very Bag Licious.
I’m almost tempted to just use a second main hand axe over sword,

Are you running Rabid armour with rabid weapons and Rune of the Undead or bleed duration runes? I assume you are using sigil of earth to tick up horn bleeds (like the BWE bleed/spirit build).
I haven’t played a trap ranger since late last year (and that was only in PvE) so I’m not familiar with how they build (I’m assuming 0/30/30/0/0 with 10 wherever), but I do think it would be fun to run traps in a zerg build, especially now that the horn is a little bit better. I’ve been doing more open field combat and traps + healing spring and a warhorn blast finisher in a build with synergy seems like fun.
Just got to say, Hunter’s Call has pretty much always been that powerful with its ability to apply lots of bleeds if you have the right traits (Sharpened Edges), gear (I recommend Rampager’s or Rabid though there are strengths and weaknesses in both sets of stats), and sigils (Earth). You should also use consumables that extend the duration of your condition damage. There is absolutely nothing new about this.
Also, Other useful skills with a sigil of Earth and Sharpened Edges is Rapid Fire, Barrage, or Whirling Defense. Barrage is by far the best skill to use with it….but Whirling Defense might be better now with the update though because of that Retaliation.

Only real difference now is the blast finisher, which is still on far too long of a cooldown in my opinion but it does help to be able to chain it with the drakes for might or healing or whatever field you wish to use it with.
can’t wait to test these out ;DDD
i wanna go home and play!

The blast finisher really is that big of a deal. It alone gives you AoE might, Frost Armour or Healing. That plays well in trap builds to give them more tools as well as party support. It’s not that the bleeds are anything new (it’s one of the first PvP builds a lot of players saw) it’s that bringing a warhorn to access Hunter’s Call is now an easier choice because of all the other ways the warhorn interacts with the rest of your build via the blast finisher. Alone the bleeds from Hunter’s Call were fine, it’s the blast finisher and multiple combo fields that take it to a new level.
Thanks for this. I’ve been running sb/gs on my trap ranger just because I love swoop so much for getting around. But this may convince me to finally drop it!

Sharpened Edges Trait ?

Powerbuilds can utilize this better with 2 leaps and blast to get 11 seconds of frost armor. Nearly 50% uptime by yourself. Though timing will be tough.
This is setup I use

Yea before though I didn’t think it was worth it with just Hunter’s Call, now with a Blast finisher though it instantly shoots it over Dagger in my opinion for the setup.
Barrage though is amazing with a similar setup, and If you watch my Twitch Channel I actually run a Longbow/SB Rampager setup doing this.
Mainly for zerging, but Traps is pretty hilarious as well.
I honestly think Traps is probably better, 1k burn tics cause you got 25 stacks of might is just hilarious
Gave this a go last night and I am loving it already. My targets were dying before I could even switch weapons.
And the blast finisher seemed to make a real difference in keeping the group alive.
What sigil would you recommend with the second weapon? Would you pretty much always use corruption?
I am running full rabid.
I’ve been using it on my spirit build in PvP. Running 10/0/30/30/0 with Shamans, runes of undead, and I switched from sword/torch axe/dagger to sword/warhorn axe/dagger. Shamans already helped with survival on heals, but now theres a leap and a blast finisher on one set to use in healing spring, which is pretty strong because you’re still getting burning from the sun spirit.
Hunter’s Call is still garbage for the CD, casting time and range it has. This thing needs to apply bleeding or blind per hit. and why is that if target gets out of LoS while being attacked by birds it makes them miss? Makes no sense whatsoever

If it applied bleeds per hit then it would apply 16 bleeds, plus whatever sharpened edges adds. That would be more than Entangle does.
If you watch the video you will notice that it adds up to 10 stacks. That is nothing to sneeze at.
I’m debating how Sword/Torch right now, I’m actually liking Axe main hand to much, i’m still thinking about just removing the Sword main hand when running with a zerg, that way I can weapon swap and still keep Axe Main hand on both offhands.

For zergs that might be a better combo. Maybe even SB. I need sword to buy time in 1v1 fights…especially vs Thieves.
…and I have to say. I just came from a couple week stint using LB/GS high crit chance high crit damage zerker build….and this kills faster. I never would have believed it. I was a tad worried about no healing but that hasn’t been a big problem.
This is the first time I actually search out thieves. If I know one is there I stand in my traps and wait for him. One died so fast that I though for sure someone else had helped…but nope…was just me.
Thanks X
Actually all our offhand’s are good…torch, dagger, horn or axe. Wish main hands were as good.
question, do trap rangers use drakes? or is it just CC pets? i was foolin around with drake and A/T S/H with my re-port build just for fun and getting double blast finishers followed by birds into S3 was a pretty potent combo. in bonfire getting 7 stacks of might was sure nice. and an extra 3500 Aoe heal is nice on the water fields.
It honestly doesn’t matter really on your pet, if you time it right you get the 7 stacks of might which is nice.
So Drakes probably are the best pet, at least in PVE they are.
As for Sword in 1v1, I agree on that Forzani, I would always use it in 1v1, but whenever I zerg with this build I get super annoyed switching out of Axe cause of how nasty Axe is, Think i’ll just take off sword when zerging.
I actually instantly stacked 25 stacks of Bleeds on someone yesterday I pop Hunter’s Call on them and time I ran over and pop them with Split Blade he had 25 stacks.
IMO, I really like the new path for Warhorn. You can combine Horn4 with sharpening stones, but I like to build entirely power for a Sword/Warhorn plus either Axe/Dagger (for extra mobility on dagger and a little control with axe) or Longbow. Now, with longbow its usually the L2P longbow ranger prejudice so typically I run Axe/Dagger. Of course, Longbow would be better in a Power build. All in my opinion
I’m going to try my rampager build tomorrow with Axe/Horn instead of Shortbow.

I am really close to changing up like you were thinking. Axe/WH + A/T
I use Sword as a mainhand but find in many fights when I switch to sword/Torch I apply some fire condition then am out of commission to weapon timer allows me to go back to axe….no regen means I prefer to stay at range
Yea, when running with the zerg I just don’t use a second main hand
Actually all our offhand’s are good…torch, dagger, horn or axe. Wish main hands were as good.
Yep, this is exactly my problem. I can’t stand sword or axe main. Which is why I’m running LB/GS as much as I’d like that blast finisher.
Thought about it, disagree. I will stick to my dagger for the evade and cripple+bleeds. Warhorn 5 cd is too long and somewhat worthless on a trap build if you already use signet of the hunt, and a single blast finisher isn’t going to help that out much. I prefer my long cripple, bleeds, poison, and evade on the dagger.

Frost armor doesn’t stack in duration.

I will tell you my motivation above all for using Warhorn …it is a channel. I despise the Thief class, and having a channel means I kill them much more often. Which is also why I really like LB rapid fire.
